It's been doing a reasonable job of tracking the front-month futures (e.g. QMM06 is down $2.025 today, and USO is down $1.97). There are some quirks, such as USO displaying round-number support/resistance while the futures keep on moving.

As of last week, some people (e.g. briefing.com) thought CME was going to announce earnings soon - on March 21 - so the IV on options was higher than usual. Now it looks like earnings won't be announced until April 26, so the IV has dropped.

Back-of-the-envelope calculation: GOOG has a $100B market cap, so should be weighted around 1% in the S&P500. Typical daily trading range of GOOG is 3%. So this may be good for an extra .39 point worth of daily volatility in SPX.
