    Does anyone use IB's Charts?

So the issue is that the 1-minute bar is not painted until the end of the minute?

Goldman Sachs traders receive H1N1 vaccine before dieing children at local hospital

Vitamin D and other stuff on the crackpot web sites won't make you immune to the flu. If you breathe in enough of it, you will get it.

Goldman Sachs traders receive H1N1 vaccine before dieing children at local hospital

This is not at all what Palin and other Republicans were talking about when they were criticizing the proposed funding for Medicare "death panels".

You realize fish can have up to 1 ppm mercury? So 25mcg of mercury is like eating half a tuna sandwich.

    Vxo, Vxn, Vix

There are VIX futures. VIX options are actually based on VIX futures, not the spot VIX. There is also an ETF (well, ETN) called VXX that tracks the front two months of the VIX futures.

    Today's FAZ action

I was seeing stray prints on lots of listed stocks today. FAZ, SPY, CVS. Had to configure the realtime charts to show just bid and ask, and not trades.

    Well, you're the expert.

Sell at market executed at below bid/ask?

One time on E*Trade I placed a limit order to sell, and by the time I submitted it, I could see the bid was higher than my limit. I got filled at my limit. I called up to ask why this happened, and the agent said "you got filled at your limit price, what's the problem?"

Does SPY gapped filled mean end of rally?

Some are of the opinion that this financial crisis was overhyped. A few weak players are gone, but the survivors (GS, JPM) are doing great. Large-cap techs are doing great. If not for that little diversion over the past 18 months, SPY would be at 190 now, if you consider that we're in a secular...

    Quad core for trading?

This is true, but quad-core processors are in general running at much lower clock rates than older CPUs of the same price range. A typical system we get now has dual quad-core E5520's, 2.26GHz. These cores benchmark decidedly slower than the 3.36GHz dual-core from 3 years ago or even the 3.6GHz...

Will TD ameritrade offer futures, forex post ThinkorSwim acquisition?

Download the thinkorswim from TD Ameritrade application. The link is on the TDAmeritrade home page after you login. That application has some futures quotes and charts (at least ESZ9, which is all I've tried).

ToS fees 3 times that of IB in extended hours?

If you're looking at TOS Canada, you need to compare to IB Canada, which is C$.01/share bundled http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/commission.php?ib_entity=llc. Still pretty inexpensive, considering trading extended hours means going to an ECN which may charge US$.003/share in fees.

Can IB stop stupid and useless features?

    There's Webtrader and iTWS.

Market makers mostly sell options, and the public buys?

I think the actual statistic is 80% of options held at expiration are worthless. But a large proportion of the outstanding options on any given option series are closed out before expiration.

    Trouble logging on to IB

The under-$25K restriction isn't necessarily triggered by a trade. It's triggered when the *value* of your account drops below $25K.

Please recommend an APC UPS battery

I got a cheapo APC unit a few years ago and even though I only used it on weekends, the battery failed after a year. On the other hand, an APC tower model (with fans) that I got for work has been in continuous use since 1997 and has never failed.

    Assignment fee upon expiration

Everyone else charges either nothing or the price of an equity trade. Ameritrade is the only one I've seen that charges more than a regular trade.

Why are you shorting anything in Asia? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124865679883782729.html The Nikkei was up 2.1% at 10,151.18 points with Australia's S&P/ASX 200 up 1.3% and South Korea's Kospi Composite 1.6% higher. New Zealand's NZX-50 added 1.1% for its highest point since October...
