Combining Day Trading with Swing Trading

I've struggled with this as I had discretionary entries ... had to see certain things happen that would trigger me in. General market conditions also would play a role. So I couldn't (didn't know how) really test this. Had no idea if I had any edge or not. Couldn't tell if I'm doing...

Combining Day Trading with Swing Trading

This is so funny ... It's like listening to myself when I was swing trading. I had discretionary entries but strict exit (both profit and loss) rules. And still I drove myself crazy with should haves. When I added day trading to get "better" entries and exits, it just became insane (I was...

Why are you posting on ET?

I have asked myself this recently. Why do I have the urge to post? Helping others is one of the reasons but I am not sure I have enough expertise to even offer my "advise" in most cases. So what I'm leaning to is that posting here makes me think a bit deeper about the topic, express my...

Combining Day Trading with Swing Trading

I think most people on this forum will agree, it's even harder if you follow the market all day. No matter how successful you may be, this statement sounds very very wrong!

Combining Day Trading with Swing Trading

How do you make sure you don't end up always few steps behind the curve? If you trend trading, you can afford to be a bit late (maybe even beneficial). But with swing trading, by the time you get your ENTER signal, the swing is over. So how sensitive is your wash indicator? I assume you are...

    Order book tick data

Why don't you just capture it yourself? CME data is not expensive and you should have enough in three months to know if it's worth buying more.

    Why Trading is so Hard

Thanks, @John9999. Yeah, I came across Joseph James. Since we are talking internet teachers, I want to positively mention Lance Beggs of YourTradingCoach.com. @SimpleMeLike, I believe you trade Crude. Have you looked into his stuff? I like his approach to trading.

SEC Won’t Release ‘Speed Bump’ Study It Promised Two Years Ago

Saying that HFT is a problem is like saying making fast cars is the reason for car accidents. Should we all take public transportation to solve it? Unfair advantages of any kind (info/costs/regs) are the problem, hft is a natural progression. The only reason sell side complain about them is...

So does this mean AlgoTerminal doesn't allow different strategies to communicate with each other?

Combining Day Trading with Swing Trading

Why would you day trade same stock as you swing trade? If you want to day trade, day trade stocks in play. Sounds to me you are trying find solutions to survive choppy markets or average down your position ... Which is what trading around your position kinda is. Sell some on small rallies, buy...

    Why Trading is so Hard

Well, you guys have all the backtesting skills to prove us wrong. Let's take the last 10 years or so. The trading rules are clearly defined.

Don't want to speak for @southall, but aren't long term trend capturing systems have this kind of characteristics? I m thinking Turtle traders.

    I have identified the enemy,,,,

I wish you all the success, but these kind of statements make me quiver :) Maybe that is where the difference in our views come from - I prefer simple/dumb strategies which I can manually control based on market conditions. Not saying it's superior or anything.

    Why Trading is so Hard

I'm not so sure. You will most likely be disappointed sooner or later. But I like that people on internet are getting more transparent.
