Are rallies Obama fault? Or just declines in the market?

LOL These are shark infested waters.

Stock picking benefits really outweight the indices diversification?

A lot of "what ifs" in this game. If you are afraid of risk, don't pick individual stocks, stick to the market index. Of course with the higher risk comes the higher potential for reward...

Day Trading Thoughts For Mon. Mar. 23

Keep posting. The more trading ideas floating around the better IMO. Whether I think your ideas are good ones or not is irrelevant. Your threads are a lot more value added than many of the other threads I read.

Most of America needs to STFU about the bail out

It's so sick the way the media reports on the economy. Clearly they have no idea what they're talking about. So many people blindly accept what the media has to say, so when they take a minor topic and blow it way out of proportion to sell the story, many people get excited over nothing.

    possibly simple question about suncor

While up 2%, Suncor shares (SU.TO) are still lagging the TSX by over 2%. The rise in Suncor this morning is due to the overall market being up so much and nothing else.

    Dateline NBC

I agree. I am offered "loans" from credit card companies all of the time. Just because they offer it does not mean I blindly accept! Know your limits.

Larget Canadian energy company - merger announced today

Suncor and Petro Canada have merged to create Canada's largest energy company ($43 billion market cap). Being a Petro Canada shareholder I received 25% premium for the shares because of the merger. I am thinking of selling at this level and maybe buying more shares at a later date when it...

    TheStreet.con Cutting 18 Jobs

He is a nutcase for sure. But blaming Cramer is an easy scapegoat. If anyone out there is investing blindly on Cramer's calls, they deserve to lose money. Do your own research and you'll have nobody to blame (or praise) but yourself.

    Would hyper inflation kill stocks?

I bought BP @ $30. That dividend is incredible and management says it will stay there as long as oil is at $50/barrel.

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

I think I see where you're going. Paying bonuses to those people screws nobody but the shareholders (taxpayers in this case). But at the same time paying the bonus helps retain valuable employees, therefore increasing shareholder value. The deadweight are those employees receiving a bonus...

    Stop ragging on Ben

Yep. I have ALOT more confidence in Ben than I do anyone in the Treasury.

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

Bonuses based on overall profit are usually for top executives only. An employee way down the food chain likely has a different performance measure other than profitability. It is entirely possible to pay a bonus to some employees without being profitable. Again, I am not agreeing with...

Day Trading Thoughts For Thurs. Mar. 19

Sure your idea is great, not arguing. But does it really annoy you that much? I think you need to lighten up a bit... Don't read the thing if it bugs you, problem solved.

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

Because obviously not as many employees performed as those who did not... I honestly believe that AT LEAST 1 of those 70+ employees who received the bonuses in question did a good job and deserved it. Obviously the top brass fucked up and should not get bonuses. But I'm sure someone down...

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

Agreed. But I'm sure some of those employees actually did perform well, despite the performance of AIG as a whole. Therefore, if all bonuses were not paid out/taken back, the good performers would leave the company for a company who pays bonuses, and those who didn't perform well would...

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

Let's be clear, it wasn't only top AIG executives getting bonuses... 70+ employees received bonuses. I'm sure not all of these were top executives and I'm sure some of those employees did actually perform well. The fact that some of AIG's employees fucked up and do not deserve a bonus...

Day Trading Thoughts For Thurs. Mar. 19

I think for it to be considered a journal he would have to post his actual trades not just ideas on possible trades.

    Bloomberg: Obama authorized AIG bonuses

Liddy's right... If you have the option of working for a company who pays bonuses, and one that doesn't, which would you choose? With no bonuses, AIG would be forced to hire the lowest of the low. Some might say they already have the lowest of the low, but I'm sure they could always do...
