Geithner opposes caps on bank CEO pay

This is a positive for sure. Compensation caps would not allow for the banks to recruit/retain high level employees. It is very reassuring that the government is not looking to go in this direction. I also support Geithner's comments regarding the need to evaluate compensation structure...

Howard Davidowitz: "The Worst Is Yet to Come"......and its so true!!!!

You bring up a great point. During this tough economic time (and every tough economic time before this), there are always people out there who think the sky is falling. The economy always rebounds eventually. I know some will say "but this time is different" but I disagree. The world has had...

huge stock market rally is over for now!

I would think that someone who makes great calls all the time wouldn't need to brag and shout and jump up and down when he gets it right. I would think that someone who makes great calls all the time would shrug it off as "just another great call by Rowshan, no big deal." It's like the D...

Socialism failed the test in one of America's Universities. A must read.

Great point Angrycat. People see this failed experiment that was the USSR yet they still believe socialism can work. There will always be someone out there who thinks the way they do it will be different and successful, but the fact is it just doesn't work.

Vehicle Sales Rise 6.3% in March

LOL You have no clue. I don't have time for your petty, immature, internet flame wars. I could take many many shots at the USA right now but that does not interest me. It is my personal belief that you have a lot of time on your hands, are stubborn and unable to be flexible on your...

Why was GM paying dividends all these years?

In hindsight that theory may be relevant for GM because we know what a terrible mess they are in today. But traditionally a dividend will help prop up (or stop the decline) of a share price because it is incentive for the investor to buy the shares therefore demand is higher.

“An Entire Generation May Now Look At The Stock Market As A Losing Proposition."

I agree with blackjack on this one. People have very short memories. While the public will be cautious about investing in stocks for a while, they will forget the crash as soon as earnings start growing again.

OMG! Who Knew?: Social Security and Medicare To Be Exhausted Far Earlier Than Thought

So now you're not even waiting for the story to be released before trying to scare everyone? Who is the source of this anonymous headline?

    General Motors and Ford

Too late, pal. GM will absolutely declare bankruptcy in a matter of weeks. Top execs sold off a bunch of stock today. This mess is already out of control and GM's brand name is already destroyed. As for the government nationalizing GM and Ford and taking their time restructuring it...I...

I Want the System to Collapse!

Maybe not perpetual but it could occur for a long enough time to completely cripple the economy. As they say, markets can remain irrational much longer than you can remain solvent. Maybe deflation would take prices MUCH lower than "fair value", then revert back to equilibrium. But during that...

I Want the System to Collapse!

You are way off. Deflation is terrible. Who will spend money to buy a car when it will be cheaper in a week, month, year? Who will buy a house when they know they can get it cheaper in a week, month, year? Spending in the economy comes to an absolute halt, with the exception of necessities...

I Want the System to Collapse!

Deflation must be avoided at all costs. Temporary deflation is OK but long term deflation is horrible. Nobody will spend money and the economy is stuck in pergatory perpetually. Stagflation is also worrisome in the near future with the stimulus spending, but deflation is what the...
