when you do that you're essentially trend trading though, calling the bottom when you write the put spread and the top when you write the call spread. you'd also take in less on the call side assuming vol comes in as price comes up to where you want to write the spread. if you're that good at...

supermicro option price case study / analysis or discussion whatever it is appropriate

he didn't post empty advice, if you dedicated some time to learning how to read instead of wondering aloud "why are the spreads on this stock blown out the day of a huge security scandal" you'd be miles ahead of the curve here. "You begin with an event on a not-so-liquid product, then focus on...

    Gauge upcoming high volatility

I was in your shoes not too long ago, and I'd like to offer some advice you probably haven't gotten yet. 200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

lol bye you've gotten some really good, insightful advice in this thread and completely ignored it just to turn it into your own personal pity party. it's a shame it was all wasted on a neurotic MS1 who refuses to believe they can ever be wrong and, incredibly, equates themselves to Buffett...

    A hypothetical scenario

the difference between moonlighting as a PA and trading options to fund MS2/3/4 is that 1) working as a provider has "guaranteed" income; that is, you know exactly how much you will make per x number of hours worked, vice options which are not guaranteed and can lose more than your deposit...

    A hypothetical scenario

Discarding Hull (without even reading it I might add) as impractical is a bit like saying learning the electrophysiology of the heart is impractical to diagnosing a STEMI. Yeah, there's a ton of derivation and "nice to know" but not immediately tradeable info in Hull's book, but it adds depth...

    Newb Here

a garbage statement that does a garbage job of answering the question, which was i'd suggest doing a bit of reading into put-call parity, which explains the relationship between the price of puts and calls of the same strike/series. while only strictly true for european options, i think it's a...

Can you expand on this, specifically the timing piece? I'm familiar with kurtosis as it relates to distributions but I've never considered it was possible to trade. Is the fly then a bet that the kurtosis is understated and increases toward expiration?
