IB: No access to the floor

This is not IB's problem to resolve. It is your responsibility as a trader to make sure you have a backup broker and/or contingency plan for this kind of outage. Either using DIA to offset dow futures, some of the bond etfs to offset bond futures, etc. Yes it does really suck when this...

Suggestions for liquid electronic futures to trade

I'm not doing size (unless 1 contract counts as size :D) but I would like the ability to scale 1-3 contracts in/out (I don't mind a tick of slippage, but I don't want to get eaten alive on the spread). SSB

Suggestions for liquid electronic futures to trade

I'm looking for liquid electronic futures to trade (with Interactive Brokers) beyond ES, NQ, ER2 and EMD and the currency futures. I've heard that the Dow Jones european futures on Liffe are pretty liquid as are the DAX and some other German futures, can anyone confirm this? What about other...

S&P Pit Traded Futures and Options Questions

I remember reading on ET that they are fungible, and I found something on the CME website stating this: http://www.cme.com/trading/dta/del/delayed_quote.html?ProductSymbol=ES&ProductFoiType=FUT&ProductVenue=G&ProductType=idx (read the comments: <i><b>Additionally, the settlement price...

Who should I let rob me?

Are you saying SLV leads the futures? That would be interesting.....

Who should I let rob me?

The problem as I see it is what type of order to place. If I use a stop limit then I can limit my slippage to say one "point" -- but at the risk of missing the runaway trades that are the most profitable (for example when it gaps past your stop limit price and never looks back). On the other...

Who should I let rob me?

I ended up placing a pit order, stop market at 1145.5 and I was filled at 1147 (1.5 cents from the high of the day!). Not ideal, but a learning experience. I'm using Tradestation's pit trading through RJ O'Brien, so far it's been OK, although I can't really judge the fills since I don't have...

Suggestions for a low cost email server

Basically yes, I've seen several products that are supposed to be easy to configure (I'm running windoze). It doesn't have to be free, but I don't want to spend $1000 either.....

Suggestions for a low cost email server

I'd like to set up a low cost email server just for use by my extended family. The goal would be to centralize all email on a server in my house, and provide POP3 access from that server, as well as a web based interface (similar to web outlook). Can someone recommend a low cost (free?)...

IB -- JPY buy stop didn't trigger

Thanks guys, I'll also go update my post on the IB board.....since nobody ever goes there

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

Not likely -- re-read the customer agreement. Unless it was an "error" on their part (such as a system bug they should have known about) you don't really have a claim. Even if the outage was caused by a techie deliberately doing something (not likely) I still think they won't compensate...

IB -- JPY buy stop didn't trigger

Thanks, that makes sense. I just assumed RTH would be the side by side pit hours....stupid to assume

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

IB does. Any broker in general has an ideal customer and a non-ideal customer. Someone who doesn't trade enough to cover the costs of being a customer is going to cost them money and would likely not be approved (and might be dropped as a customer -- have their account closed). I don't know...

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

An outage is an outage not a mistake on their end, and unless you can prove they deliberately did something (why would they?) you're pretty much up the creek. I don't think you'd find a broker who would compensate you for something like this. That's why you need a backup broker.

IB -- JPY buy stop didn't trigger

My order didn't trigger today and I was hoping someone could tell me why. It was entered via TWS with the following properties: contract: JPY on GLOBEX (japanese yen) order type: stop stop price: 0.8640 order time in force: GTD good after time: 20060921 08:20:00 EST expiration date...

Who should I let rob me?

I'm going to start trading silver, but I can't decide if I should use ECBOT or COMEX. Since right now I'd be using the COMEX pit I know I'd get robbed there (I'll be using stop market orders). Can anyone weigh in on the liquidity on ECBOT during the regular session -- is silver liquid...

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

If you do some searching you can find posts about dual wan routers, multiple ISPs, etc. I personally use two separate routers with a DSL and cable connection. I've never had my cable go down, but I've lost DSL about 2-3 times in the last year but I never lost connectivity to IB for more than...

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

For me the important take aways from today are: 1. Every broker will have problems sooner or later, so having a backup broker and plan in place is paramount 2. No matter how stable a feed is, sooner or later it will go down (first outage in 16 months for GLOBEX with IB -- I'd consider that...

Anybody else's ER2 quotestream from IB go down today?

I'd have to disagree -- who out there runs a brokerage "designed" to screw their customers? If you search you'll find a ton of threads on ET about how IB sucks. I even think they may open a special forum for griping about IB. At least then the rest of us don't have to read it. There are...
