Is the market traded by humans anymore?

I thought Forex was the biggest game in town...I've seen numbers like $5.3 trillion dollar business just between the banks themselves per day. I think Forex is a big game -mainly for the big banks but not for the individual. An individual on Wall Street can rise up on their own and start...

How long did it take for you to find/discover your trading edge?

I do the same - swing trade everything with mostly classic patterns at least 2 months in the making on he weekly charts and one or two of my own. Will play breakouts and failed breakouts from channels - bear/bull traps. My favorite being major capitulations with large tails. Volume is king.

Is the market traded by humans anymore?

The Asia markets are said to be 80% humans & 20% computers - The charts look like ours once did. If you have IB you can pay $2 month to trade futures on the Singapore exchange. It is easier to stay in a position without HFTs creating violent spikes.

I am discretionary/swing trader based on 20% classic chart patterns and 80% aggressive risk mgmt. - it took me about 8 years to get dialed in, that was about 14 years ago. I do believe strongly that a trader can have several edges - just got to think outside the box, and do what others are...

At 16 I was in love with the Katrina twins, partying, motocross, surfing, and playing the strat on a full Marshall stack/at full volume inside a double wide trailer. Banks are the evil empire. Not to late to turn on, tune in, & drop out from the rat race.

Pinabetal - HFTs don't concern me so much because I am swing trading. It is not a matter of blame but knowing how things work - you don't seem to care about that at all as evidenced by your grasp of a megaphone pattern. You may have been at it for decades - so why haven't you a clue man? Your...

The best money management methods ...

You are very misinformed if you think HFTs are good for traders - you are obviously a rank novice without a clue. Some HFTs play the intra-day spreads, other HFTs play the common entry signals from indicators and chart patterns commonly used mainly by day traders that result in clustered...

Agreed - That so called 'Megaphone' of yours does not come close to a valid pattern. Not to mention it was never intended for intra-day - it is applied to the weekly and daily charts since it typically takes about 2 months to play out. Sure, you will see patterns on smaller time frames - the...

'If investors really want to place bets on equity market volatility or use them as hedges, the VIX-related ETF and ETN products are acceptable but highly-flawed instruments.
