How high can the S&P go?

Here is the monthly S&P500 chart, closing prices only. This chart isn't as busy as some I have seen, but it is busier than I prefer. Nevertheless, it has some interesting landmarks that are worth noting. The Fib Retracement is nearly at the first significant level. Also note that major moving...

If you had ten million dollars...

I didn't say you said one could only hold stocks. I only hold stocks. So I wouldn't only hold stocks.

If you had ten million dollars...

Garf' because it is the weekend and the board is somewhat quiet, we can have fun with this today, but later this evening it is going to Chit Chat. I woouldn't trade the same only in the sense that I wouldn't look only to stocks. Diversification is still rule number one, so I'd have a much...

    Simplicity

If you're still checking this thread out jrs3: The only way that the 3 min chart looks like yours is for it to be set on 24 hour data, otherwise the macd patterns and the post 16:00 data do not match. Regardless, with mine set on 24 hour it matches yours. I'm guessing from the time diff on...

Jrs3, it looks like you have a 3 min YM chart set to all sessions, ie., 24 hour, with an MACD oscillator versus the standard MACD. Either way, would you mind sharing the settings for it? No problem if no. Thanks.

Absolutely brilliant! Very funny Aphie. GG no offense intended, it is pretty funny though.

How high can the S&P go?

The consolidation break will squeeze every last penny out of it, otherwise I would be a seller below the 40sma which is 1034.43. Note, that would be to open new shorts. Any longs I have now will be gone before we reach that point, if they have acted similarly.

How high can the S&P go?

Yeah that's why I don't trade my feelings or thoughts. The market doesn't care what I "think", so neither do I. I try and let it tell me what to do. It crosses up, I'm a buyer, down... I'm a seller. It takes out a high, I'm a buyer, a low, I'm a seller. Simple signals for a simple mind. The...

My Starch Plant Just Got SHut Down?

I think Ken Calhoun at DayTradingUniversity.com is a standup guy. He is a member here also, Ken_DTU. I know he cares about your success. And, he is in Hawaii, so if you need to go there for personal mentoring..... :) Good luck!

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

This is TXT. I first posted this on Sunday 10-26 under the symbol TDKY... in honor of Traderkay. It was at 47.15 then. Two trading weeks later, it is at 50.12. And golly gee whiz it is doing that consolidation thing again. Let's see, 500 shares tied up about 12K initial margin, 10K...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

Nothin' comes easy does it? Notice how the price opened outside the upper boundary.... then made its move. Did they pick off stops with that opening, or was it just a result of the anticipated big day from the positive economic numbers. Tough play for the geo trader. The NRID trader had no...

    Monday trading Times for indexes

He didn't, I did. And I get tired of moderating this stuff. Hmmmm, this thread seems like a Strategy, or something to do with TA. Maybe I should move it to those forums. Naaah, those guys hate this stuff as much as I do.

    Options as a hedge?

I have the same question as lindq for the same reason, but I would rather sell calls than buy puts. I am immediately guilty of my own advice which is 'try researching a bit before you ask the board', but c'est la vie. Trust me when I say that my weekend will be all about getting up to speed on...

How high can the S&P go?

I agree Romey, everyone sees something different. This is a monthly DJIA using closing prices only. We have had a 50% Fib Retracement and subsequent bounce. Price has responded historically to both the 40 and 50 sma's. That's where we are now... right at the 50. And the MACD is close to...
