depends how frequently he trades. if he trades intraday, it might be very difficult with 30mln eventhough these are largecap companies. if you can disclose: what´s his strategy in general?

Sometimes (especially if my self-employed career isn´t going well) I wish I finished college so I easily could land a cushy 9-5 job. Other times I realized I ain´t fit for/aren´t interested in a 9-5´er anyway, and gotta do things my own way.

it´s not a matter of if, it´s a matter of when will computers take over. the trend is undeniably apparent. 30 years ago, the only thing where computers were involved in the trading process were the simplest backoffice tasks.

if the next best price is an other ecn, and the smart router only routes to destinations that are shown on the bid/ask, the smart router can bypass the hidden order. thus it depends on the smart router. most smart routers probably only route to shown destinations imo. hidden means totally hidden.

you forget that simons is not trading against "people who trade to make money" as you call it. they are trading against investors, mostlly pension funds etc. who have to trade.

i guess you could try to figure out the expected dividends and combined with the interest rate and you should have an answer. i don´t know how accurate everything has to be though.

don, you forget that at your firm the really active traders pay through the nose for commissions, while on some true prop firms the commissions are truly at cost, and therefore nihil. would you rather have 50% of 100k without commissions, or 100% of 100k and paying 70k on commissions?
