Monday Will Start Off With Futures Down Big!!!

Yeah, this trading biz is a bitch. Ain't it. You feel so sure and then the market decides to give you a slap in the face.

    Gold is dumping.

Oil and gold appear to be overvalued. I think you're right about gold. Holding at the moment but seems tenuous.

Is there a future market with good liquidity to trade the Shanghai market? I can't seem to found one with IB.

I got a hedge fund job

I think you're getting screwed on the bonus. The base is about right for recent IT grads. The big investment companies will give $5-$10k bonus. And the hours would be much easier. You can even out if they teach you the trading side. You can always bring it up during performance reviews...

looking to make a career switch (from software dev), suggestions?

It's pretty tough to do a switch to the business side, especially without a MBA. I worked in the big investment firms for the past 10 years on the IT side. A number of my colleagues did make the switch since the compensation is potentially much higher. Some firms have sponsored MBA program...

The Russell 2000 haunts me tonight

It definitely looks bad for the RUT. Given it's getting closer to the summer doldrums, and the markets need a reprieve from its relentless climb. RUT will probably lead the way down. Might be time to sell in May and go away.

    Interactive Brokers vs. Vonage

What a hard-on for one company. IPO wasn't a huge splash. No biggie. Time to move on. One thing about Vonage, I think they compare very similarly to Sirius/XM. Companies with big concepts and big dreams, burning through money faster than anyone can imagine. IB by comparison is...

    AAPL has shot its wad

fundamentally, apple is looking good. when macs are starting to sell well, i really wouldn't want to go against the tide. saying it's cooked just because of a single downgrade especially when the stock is at it highs doesn't sound too smart.

Even CEO Can't Figure Out How RadioShack Still In Business

I'll tell you how. I went in to buy some button batteries for my keychain flashlight. I needed 4, salesman said it would cost $20 bucks. I felt it was too expensive but bought it anyway, thinking they were a specialty item. That night I go on eBay and found out I could have had 4 for $5...

    IB (IBKR) IPO auction

I've read a number of articles saying the better brokerages are taking more controlled risk with their own capital to maximize their PnLs. GS comes to mind. IB has shown their prowess with their marketmaking abilities. Trading gain as a percentage of total revenue. 2002: total...

    IB (IBKR) IPO auction

I just bid for 400 shares at $25 and 500 shares at $20. Personally I think $20 will be too low and would be a great bargain. At $25, the company is being valued at $10 billion, right out of the door, they're priced very close to their competitors. What did you bid?

    IB IPO Auction System

Yes, everyone gets at the final price.

    IB IPO Auction System

Works same way. Bids come in strong and low-high range is $35-75. Lowest possible IPO price will be $35. The projected range is only a projection. Give them an out. If it's much lower than $23, they can cancel the IPO. Give bidders an idea what they are looking for. Most serious bidders...

    IB IPO Auction System

    1. In a dutch auction, the bidding process determines the IPO price. During the auction, people bid whatever they think is a fair price for the stock for a specific quantity. Once all bids are in, the lowest price that can buy the last share is the IPO price. IB has 30 million shares it...
