    Modern Electronic Market Making

If you find anything, please post. A long time ago, I was doing clerical work for a Nasdaq marketmaker. Curious how new electronic market making actually works, especially equity index futures.

Free charting software for IQ Feed

Always thought stockcharts had a nice format. RUT Most of these charts also have interactive mode so you can scroll. Stockcharts has a PerfChart link at the bottom.

Can we make ET a better place?

Funny you mention that. Activity seemed to drop a bunch right after the site had all those issues with the upgrade.

is IB's market connection outrage this morning

Of course, it makes sense. I gave them high marks in the survey. Obviously they reallocated your bandwidth to me. Alway be careful what you say, Peterffy is watching you.

ex Goldman Sachs Trader Tells Truth about Trading

Welp, I wasn't expecting much but I liked Million Dollar Traders. If you are looking for discussion on Turtle strategy, forget about it. Very little talk about strategy except for references to "building portfolio with long/short positions" and some pair trading trades. What the show did...

is IB's market connection outrage this morning

Logged in as usual, zero problems. Here in Manhattan. IB is one of the best.

ex Goldman Sachs Trader Tells Truth about Trading

Ah geez, dude has this "professional trading masterclass with anton kreil" promotional video. Apparently it's 2,000 pounds. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FjMKLow0kY8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

ex Goldman Sachs Trader Tells Truth about Trading

Meh, I don't mind a good story. If it's boring, I'll stop viewing. Just finished 2 books, Wolf of Wall Street and The Buy Side: A Wall Street Trader's Tale of Spectacular Excess. Some good nuggets about how ppl made some of their money.

ex Goldman Sachs Trader Tells Truth about Trading

Is this guy for real? Anton Kreil. Apparently he now teaches trading. He said in 2 years, teaching 80 students, the group has never had a losing month trading. He sounds very sensible. Millionaire Trader is available in a 3 part Youtube series. Will watch that after I complete this six...

Java - Storing data in memory for post-runtime access

The idea is to separate your data from your application code. There are advantages like flexibility and running multiple apps against the data. Complicated?? Here is a HTTP server in like 20 lines of code, using purely java jdk libraries. Go to a web browser and type in...

Java - Storing data in memory for post-runtime access

Correct. In addition, we were actually able to query our cache server (Tomcat container) from a web browser and see data in CSV format. So you could potentially access your data from anywhere on the web. But at some point if this is not a throw-away project, seriously look at RESTful...

Java - Storing data in memory for post-runtime access

It shouldn't be foreign at all. Analogy is similar to you inputting a web link into the browser and the browser returning data, a webpage, back to you. HTTP has POST/GET for retrieving data. Pretty basic web programming. The nice thing about this approach is that it's FAST and has little...

Java - Storing data in memory for post-runtime access

Are you saying you are a complete beginner with Java? Just keep it simple. First program simply reads your data into memory and stays alive. Your 2nd program that you will be constantly bouncing, just needs to figure out how to communicate with first program. Basic core java libraries...

Java - Storing data in memory for post-runtime access

Have a secondary app that simply caches the data in memory. First app can communicate with the second one through various ways, web services, restful, etc.

    GS Superday

Funny thing you say that, the reason why I left GS was to go independent, doing contracting work. By that point I had been in the industry as a full timer for 12 years, I just wanted a change. It wasn't 12 hours day. That's on the IB side. Programmers did usual hours but then again, most...

    GS Superday

I did 2 rounds, both in person. I was working at Lehman at the time. Banks give preference to "stealing" active employees of the competition so I guess I had an advantage. I would feel optimistic if they're willing to do a third round with you.

    GS Superday

Brain teasers interviews can be a joke. I've been in that situation before, where they don't bother asking any technical questions specific to the job and just seem to throw hard brain teasers at you. Back in the early 2000s, I had an interview with Interactive Brokers in Connecticut. I...
