i use version 851.9 along with java 1.4.2_05 - no problems here. always using the latest version right from the start is not a good idea anyway - even more if one doesn't need all those "features".

if you are trading intraday solely - just keep away from such situations. those scenarios you described are simply results of massive greed. so if you are in the market and such a thing starts - get out quickly. if you are not in just relax and watch and do not even think about jumping in.

i know what you mean and you're right. but if you make less trades with more contracts - the exposure is of course smaller on the one side - but higher on the other side - perhaps if you should ever have a problem with someones fat finger trade, etc.

that's true for sure - but why would anyone being that successful ever want to work/trade for a fund?? as far as is see it - you try to become an independent trader because you absolutely do not want to work for anyone else / being responsible for anything else than your own money, etc.

i don't understand your problem with the Dow/YM. if you trade the ES - ignore the dow. concentrate on the technicals of the ES and act accordingly - and if your current strategy does no longer fit - find something new. what exactly makes you think the ES is a derivative of the YM??
