From poker player to stock trader.

stuff on here... gsco's post was real good. first, it's difficult to just walk in and make money. you're willing to learn, which is good. you know how to fold with the best hand, even if you're 'sure' it's a winner. i make far, far less than you do as a trader. but it's my own...

    Goldman Sachs predicts $105 crude

well, he wouldn't appear on cnbc to defend his call, even for softball questions. when's the last time you heard of THAT happening? (some people won't appear with the tough cnbc questioners)

Trade through rule for nasdaq, enjoy!

this has a difficult time working with ECNs in existence, doesn't it? i'll sometimes smart route my order on a small cap a couple cents below the inside bid if i see an ECN (or through supersoes) with size, and the inside offer has 100 shares. vice versa on a short. sorry, if i want...

    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

*thank you* to the people who posted this. i was debating whether to waste my time watching his show, because a friend of mine who is looking into trading was asking me stuff about cramer, because he 'looks' good. i gave him a bunch of links, citations, and cramer's own stuff. the first...

AAPL - A bloodbath in the making

wow, i'd never have thought the weekly ADX is at 76... maoxian.com is a good blog, has a piece on AAPL today. also has a link to the daytrading on steroids article, which is an interesting read. (tradebot)

    market makers

BRUT and CINN (ISLD) are ECNs, NOT market makers. there's lists of the 2 available on the internet...some level 2 lets you see how many times the MM hasbeen on the inside best bid / offer....

    Article on Market Maker

the NITE article in the wsj don references was a few years back....NITE was sounding as if they were defending how they could 'guarantee' profits, because they knew what the order flow was for the opening - would buy in the pre-market, then sell to the (guaranteed) buyers... and though i'm no...

What's wrong with the big boys?

my trading system works for me, and i'm doing fine with it. having said that - there's NO chance it can work with a larger account. in fact, i deliberately keep my trading account small, as the 'excess' cash in there won't get used on an intraday basis. what i do is take trades that...

    It's all over for NYSE

rubber - any comments RE: my earlier question, about ney's books? interesting article: http://www.forbes.com/business/services/newswire/2004/05/19/rtr1377449.html Program trade may create new woes for NYSE traders Wed May 19, 2004 01:20 PM ET By Javier David NEW YORK, May 19...

Clicked 3 threads and got 3 virus alerts

i use opera (when viewing ET), and on opera, i have java / javascript on, but all outside plug-ins and popups off. i have NOT received the redirect virus from ET with those parameters. (and i did get it in my cache from a baseball site).

    EBAY finally topped?

lobster - don't forget, ebay (the company) has ignored lots of its users requests, lied to them, and the stock still acts strong. remember the billpoint fiasco? 'customer service' jerry belittling paypal, and how everyone would run to billpoint? oops. however, your point is well-taken...

    It's all over for NYSE

since you've been around 40 years... (and i guess i could have asked others, but just keeping up on this thread)... what was the talkback on the NYSE when richard ney's books came out in the 1960s? i know of the furor when darvas' first book came out in the late 1950s, but the only...

    Short Selling

no, there's no rule that says you can't short under $5 stocks. some brokerages / clearing firms won't allow their clients, but it's their decision, not a 'law'.

    Barton Biggs

you know, it's not the end of the world to state the following statements: barton biggs WAS good, and WAS influential. his influence, i'll leave up to others, but his good days are long behind him. it's tough to stay on top of the curve through bear markets, bull markets, the biggest bull...

as heard on radio soulwax... (volume 2 is the only one commercially available, only in the benelux region. however, they've been bootlegged from here to eternity from their radio broadcasts, dj gigs, etc.) and the website has some of the sets playing as well.

did you receive email via outlook? could have gotten trojan that way. do you have a firewall on your machine? have you updated windows with all the new updates (windowsupdate.microsoft.com) i just removed trojan from someone's machine, it's a nasty virus. relatively easy to take care...

    Advanced Analyser-Scanner

i use it - have not switched to something else (ie. tc2000) mainly because i started using it when it was free (big easy investor, at the time), and i'm most comfortable with it. i suspect that tc2000 is better, but i'll answer questions you have...

    Cramer radio

    > "his foray into daytrading". for those of us who enjoy cramer when he's telling something interesting (confessions...was well written, and his buzz n batch hit the right note for many friends of mine), what does he talk about with this? i thought he gave up daytrading when he retired from...
