Who got hurt on that spike today?

Longer time frame for me means longer than the last 5 ticks. :D I am thinking more along the lines of intraday swing setups where one can put on a core position and scalp around it. This may just be a pipe-dream. I am simply looking to expand my knowledge and possibly to learn something I can...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

I remember I looked through that book once. You probably already know that scalping is very focused on risk management, psychology, technology and some TA. I have been expanding my reading to include more TA lately to learn to scalp on a longer time frame. I'm very good at what I do and am lucky...

    Excel IF...THEN

That worked. I didn't enter it correctly. I have never used the INDEX function, so this is a welcome lesson. I appreciate your help.

Who got hurt on that spike today?

No bust. Requires a move of 250+ points to even consider busting.

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Samson, I'm very interested in being able to make such an evaluation on a longer time frame prior to beginning for the day so that it can better support my scalping decisions. What would you say was the most helpful tool (book, etc.) that enables you to make such an evaluation? I...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

The last time this happen and I was trading, there was substantial size at most 50 and even levels. It was interesting to see that the market dropped and it would pause and then further stops are triggered and it would rush down 20+ pts again and so on. The tape would show some size triggering...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

These are good observations, but you are setting yourself up to get toyed with if you strictly go by the bid/ask ratio in the book. You need to train your mind (much like learning a video game) to compare this to the actual prints on the tape. There is a lot of faking in there. There are even...

    Excel IF...THEN

Hmmm... I tried to play with this, but it doesn't quiet work.

    Excel IF...THEN

I see what you did. Didn't think of that. It might be a bit bulky once I include the markets I'm looking at.

    Excel IF...THEN

Ok. Here is a sample of it. Your time and help is appreciated.

    Excel IF...THEN

I have a spreadsheet that compares a list of levels against the last market price. It will then pick the next level above the last price and show that as an offer and the next level below the last price as a bid. Here's an example: 10640 10459 10442 10436 10389 <---- last...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

So what was the purpose of your initial comment? To impress yourself and be awed again?

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Thanks for your kind words. I lost that money in the YM, but it was only the majority of what I was up in the DAX. The YM is a supplement to my meat'n'potatoes DAX trade. It is not difficult with Wed and Thurs movement to make that money back quickly for me. I appreciate your concern.

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Yes, I looked at the tape and there were 1 lots, 2 lots, 10 lots, etc gapping 50+ ticks in there. This is making my ears perk up. This is not supposed to happen. I will be speaking with Dean, VP Investigations, again today. A stop in this situation would have locked in a 900+ point loss for...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

I don't use indicators. I use price and volume on the DOM/Tape mainly and refer to charts when needed. [b] My comments to you were made with tongue in cheek. I'm not being serious. I know what kind of trader I am and so I don't get rocked very easily. We trade different styles and so I know...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Fair question. I scalp both ways, always. I trade the direction of the trend with size and trade the bounces small. I don't have a bias other than that. I take trades based on the tape/DOM and watch for S/R. This is why I only had 6 on long. Those would only be worth a couple of ticks. I...

    What the heck just happened

The offers that got filled on the way down where attempts to hit the bid. Those offers probably cut my losses in half. I didn't panic. I was simply trying to find someone to trade with. :) I don't automate strategies. Wouldn't know where to start. I didn't hedge because the ES didn't move...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Yes. I have seen it in the NQ.... about 3 years ago. All trades busted. I think it happened over the summer.

Who got hurt on that spike today?

Can you tell me what it will do next and what we are setting up for in the next few days so I can buy/sell 100 YM's please? You are right. I am one of the people who unfortunately got caught in it and was asleep while I scalp 1000+ turns a day. An old trader once told me something which I...

    What the heck just happened

There were no bids. All the way down to 10300. That was the problem. I have seen several fat-fingers before, but this one looked nothing like them. I was searching for a bid to hit and nothing. Not only this, but as I scrambled to sweep to get out my offers remained in the book and were...
