Are you good at price action and technical analysis?

It has to be a playback, so there is a continuous updating aspect to it. It is not realistic to have a singular time slice. Every bar that is put out there, has a chance to change EVERYTHING or nothing and everything in between. Which bars merit evaluation and which don't is a serious...

Are you good at price action and technical analysis?

Right! For instance in order to be Price Action it has to show as it happens or in vivo. Charts are HISTORICAL. They show what happened. They do not show how it happened. How it happens is a large part of the action. 5 minutes is a VERY long time for some instruments. Heck a 1 min bar...

Done early: 7 RT for 10 points. Seems like a "waiting for tomorrow" type day.

i have been posting real time signals to tw4tter.

If you want to show your awesomeness or lack thereof, you need to post in real time. Size, Direction, Instrument and show the clearing firm. Otherwise, just another POSER. No one wants another armchair back testing trader, pontificating BS, but not fooling anyone.

    Complacency in trading.

I think this is a key point. The solution you mention is direct, concrete, you feel it in the mind and body. A great reset and motivator. The stuff that is all in your head, is too easy to sidestep. and people go around in circles. My partial "solution" is reducing the mental overall load...

Adding to Relentless' comments, IMO for trading, I've been < 70% on predicting the correct direction on FOMC related news. But >70% on calling the direction reacting to the move, even accounting for reversals. But I don't consider either. As far as water cooler talk, the only FOMC...

Really? Only the line to the right are relevant? ROFL! Fibs, trend lines, fans. Geeze make up your mind. You put theses charts up all of over the forums with no explanation like SPAM. They add no value and are like trading fandom stuff. And now you act as if it is all part of Price Action...

You should stop posting those charts with so many "indicators". With all those lines on it ANYTHING is justifiable.

Market Keeps Stopping Just Short of My Orders

Please speak for yourself. This is such old news. The fact that you think you are in company speaks volumes to your self assessment. It is 2023 not 2003. Perhaps consider that you need to get educated before you enter the ThunderDome. Those of us who have been trading pre internet, have...

    Moving Average Backtest

Also look at the distances and rate of change. It is pretty easy to see a cross over BEFORE it happens based on the rate of change of the delta between the two.

" Can anyone relate?" I think one concept that may help is the notion of a crowded trade. If you were to try a long today, it was best to buy when the sellers were "spent". To me than means you have to wait for a break down below a support level. That way, all those who are going to sell...

I dont get what this pattern is ?

FYI: Stocks like this are not as reliable to chart reading for two reasons: 1) It is under 2-6 a share. At that price a lot of Mutual Funds cannot buy them. 2) It is a drug or biotech and is driven based on news. If I thought the company was a Buy, I would buy on some weakness here, near or...

Never say definitely! :D To my mind if it were going to go down, it should start by now, so something is a bit amiss so far. If we go sideways or bounce off the 3800 level, that are the things that upturns are made of. All I can say is we have not started down in earnest.

    How feasible is algorithmic trading?

Don't be so mystified by "algo". Look you can run an Algo buy or sell on IB TWS with a simple click. Sure, they are just price arrival algos, but people seem to lump them together with complete systems which are 100x more of about everything. Learn the basics and then write some simple ones...

    How feasible is algorithmic trading?

Algo trading is the new buzzword for retail traders. Like "AI-xyz" or back in the day "TA". It is so broad a term that is easily becomes meaningless. If one were to catalog the types of Algo trading it would be VERY large, despite the secrecy behind it. Just like TA. Algos are just an...

    The Water is Fine

It is a subtle point. Usually, it happens when the signal itself is ill defined. Things like: It is rising, or it is diverging. These type of "signals" are full of holes since they are not discrete but more on a continuum. Better is rising-diverging by XYZ relative to ABC, which can be...

    Complacency in trading.

Sustainability is a serious problem with discretionary trading. I can go 20 days also and then fall down. So identified the largest mental burdens. e.g watching every tick, or searching for complex XYZ. Then eliminated them via automation. I estimated it would take another 12-18 months to...

    The Water is Fine

When I react to a signal, consistently the trade spends more time green. When I predict a signal, I find the occasional very bad entry and trades I would like to have never met. For my sanity, reacting to signals is the clear choice. Predicting signals is exhausting.
