    Laces Out Journal

Yes, I'll watch your trades since CDN equities are what I swing trade as well. One of the nice things about CDN stocks, that are transposed with the U.S., is the gyration's are wider because of our lower $. Good luck

    Options Quotes

Maybe take a look at whether you're ITM, ATM or OTM. The greeks, vol, and liqidity also play a major role in options pricing. And if all the above has been checked off, then the MM is under pressure to make more money.:banghead:

What is the single, most effective piece of financial advice you've ever received?

Buy a new house (or resale) every 10 years. Between the forced savings (mortgage), appreciation and inflation, you'll end up way ahead of the game.

How many of you guys do this as a career?

I think "guys" has morphed into more of an androgynous term, can be used with either gender, at least in Toronto.

How many of you guys do this as a career?

I'm a swing trader that likes fundamentals and stats. Candlesticks are good for timing entries and exit's Really enjoy reading financial statements. There are so many ways to trade, just keep experimenting until you find your niche. And the most important thing is money management, "no money...

A new options market is needed

Since the bid ask, more often than not, seems to be so wide I switched over to synthetic's a while back. It helps to keep, at least one side, commissions and slippage in check. I have always had a bent to the long puts, and IMHO they are much easier to deal with than calls.;)

    please help with price movement

Without seeing anything else, the bid ask spread is too wide (26%). Make sure it's liquid, otherwise the MM will just widen it when it starts moving in your favor, and gladly take your money. And an after thought, save yourself alot of pain, learn the greeks inside and out. Good luck.

Directional plays can be really tough on the account over the long haul. Maybe consider investigating different types of straddles and strangles.

    When To Sell

Certified cheque?…who's going to go stand in some line, get eye-balled by a gun toting rent-a-cop for 20 minutes, spend $2.50 for the certification from a teller that brags about English being their third language, all for $5.99? Thank you…nooooooooooo!

Is there any empirical study available about the profitability of option sellers vs option buyers?

This book will give you the percentages for both sellers and buyers, on corporate earnings news. Some really good back testing was done by the authors. Excellent read. Bottom line, if you know what you're doing, both sides can make money.

    Canadian Traders -- Tax questions

I use Tax FRWY, Mac, for filing, with no problems. It looks identical to the printed forms from the CRA. The pic below is the header of a sheet done in Numbers (Mac version of Excel). I log after every transaction and it automatically updates running totals. It's copied from the CRA tax form...
