Man-made global warming propoganda has failed

Obviously "plenty" isn't sufficient or they are not "eminent" enough or they would have forced national science bodies somewhere to change their stance. The evidence AND the great weight scientific opinion does not dispute AGW. They will certainly be ineffectual if nothing substantial is...

Man-made global warming propoganda has failed

What a pathetic response. Not to mention arrogant and bigoted. Feel free to name any national science academy housed in mud huts or otherwise that disputes AGW.

its insane. the us is funding the taliban in Afghanistan.

There was a documentary shown recently on Aus TV about the scale of corruption in Afghanistan. It was just mind boggling in it's scope. US aid was supposed to have committed to building over 600 schools across the country. The journalist insisted on being shown one (just one) in Kabul. After...

Murdoch may block Google searches of Newscorp, Fox news contents

Exactly. He won't be doing himself any favors by blocking search engines. Methinks it's a lot of posturing over something he can't really do much about. Just like the attacks on the BBC for "unfair competition"

Windows 7 vulnerable to 8 out of 10 viruses !!!

I must admit, I find the Win 7 hype both entertaining and a bit perplexing. I also find the revelation that it runs "real quick" on hardware you paid an arm a leg for, to be quite enlightening. No doubt there are performance differences between them all, but I'd like to see some hard...

Windows 7 vulnerable to 8 out of 10 viruses !!!

And what test would that be? Most of the stuff posted here is so subjective that it is laughable. Anyway if it makes people feel better ......

does america do enough for world hunger

It is manifestly an outbreak of silliness. There is either world hunger or there is not. There is global warming or there is not. These things exist regardless of power struggles, conspiracies and who is doing what to whom. A little bit of pseudo intellectual waffle does not disguise the...

does america do enough for world hunger

One of the silliest things posted on ET for quite some time. A real achievement.

Subtract the war in Iraq and the attack would have never happened.

    The weather is completely random

What rubbish. We had a storm here last night. I predicted this from looking at the web weather radar which showed storms moving from the west. As did nearly every other person who looked at the radar. The pattern occurs over and over again in the summer months here. You don't even need to...

Need historical minute data - good source?

How far back do you want to go? DTN IQFeed has several years of historical 1min data. (back to 2007 I think for stocks), and one month for tick. About $72 per month for US stocks. $300 one off if you want the API. The API is easy to use and overall I have found IQFeed to be very reliable...

InteractiveBrokers. If you are not a super high frequency trader, the IB feed should meet your needs. Not to mention free for several exchanges.

    Does anyone use IB's Charts?

Java is NOT the problem. The code is the problem.

    Does anyone use IB's Charts?

I'll bet pennies to pounds that the whole chart is being repainted just to repaint the the last bar. It is the way the JFreeChart library (that TWS uses) works. I've written my own charting stuff that uses JFreeChart and coerced the whole arrangement to just repaint the last bar when that is...

Biden Spills Beans on Automaker's Full Line of New Vehicles

In Australia, LPG is readily available and quite viable for cars. It has been widely used for fleet cars such as taxis for a long time (~ 30 yrs). Conversion of a petrol engine to gas or dual fuel costs around $500 - $2500 after a government subsidy of $2000 per car. It is much cheaper than...

    IB TWS API Speed

I think you misunderstand what nice is intended to do. It really means "be nice to others". ie if you have a process that is hogging CPU increase the nice value so that other processes get more of a fair go. As for Java performance, you might try a server JVM. I think that they are more...

Win 7 64 bit first impressions

You can set thread stack size in Java. And there is also a system call to set stack size in Linux. I'd investigate this stuff first. I'd also really look into reported memory useage - how shared objects are accounted for might be interesting.

    reducing multiple monitor temperature

I think in the case of TVs, the LCD backlight uses less than 50% of the power of Flouro. Presumably monitors are the same. Certainly sounds like the way to go.
