you don't necessarily have to go prop. you can check out diff ways of trading and start by yourself. the trouble with prop is that once you're trained in that way, it's hard to untrain yourself.

I do everything else the night before. In the morning I just look at a list of gappers and try to relax and get ready for the day. i don't think you should really do your research in the am in terms of scanning charts, etc.

Check out www.highchartpatterns.com , they're pretty awesome and cheap (even though i've been a member prob around a month, so take it with a grain of salt). zanger style but for daytraders. i've posted some of the calls that i've taken on my thread under Trade of the Day in journals...

best trade of the day was buying rack at 28.5 and selling it almost 50 cents later (courtesy of www.highchartpatterns.com) worst trade of the day was getting hosed around on nvec-- what the hell am i even doing messing around with that stock.....

This was a perfect day to get played -- didn't do a thing and that I think was my best trade of the day.

Best trade of the day, and a smooth one for the first time since i started this thread, was BSC over 50dma. Bot it at 137, sold it at 138 (1.8 points early of course :-(

Best and worst trade today was in the oils -- best in PBR buying the range break-out and worst was later i DO when I thought they would run up in the late afternoon. Tough stocks to trade...

great trade. I'd love to keep this thread open where traders share their best/worst trades of the day. There's so much anonymous trades on ET -- nice to have real tickers, real prices. One more note -- I usually don't screw up this much on a trade as I did today but there's a lesson...
