Giving money away makes me happy and study done shows I ain't alone

I wonder if losing money on others triggers the same happiness.

    Daytrading! Part Deux

Another example why understanding the underlying theme and trading in this direction is more advantageous. Identify it and you won't get distracted with every tick up or down. Who is in control of the market? Is it visibly falling? Is it visibly rising? 23 trades and yet your are barely...

    The Rally Since 1PM . . .

What is so difficult to grasp in today's rally? React to what you see, not to what you think might happen. I read posts in this thread where "traders" continuously shorted on the way up. Is that sensible? Take a step back and ask yourself, "am I acting against the market or with the market?" Who...

    Protif taking strategy

I wouldn't change that strategy too much if I were you, so I agree with the posters above. You can make one slight improvement by combining both recommendations given in the books but I'm not sure if you are already doing it because your post doesn't quite reveal it. Start off with 3 lots and...

Are we at a short term bottom?

Where in my post did you interpret a recommendation to sell short? What I was asserting is that it's not advantageous to establish a long position as bulls have not made their case at all. You might be seeing something that I do not, but from what I see there is no reason to exit a short...

Are we at a short term bottom?

Well guys, go long then if you think you can outsmart the market. Stoploss below what you think is support and your job is done. I don't understand why you are so eager to call the bottom instead of trading in the direction that's so obvious! What has the market done the entire day? It was...

    Daytrading! Part Deux

Too vulnerable in my opinion. You want to make sure you won't be stopped out unnecessarily once a trend is established. Your initial stops are simply too tight. If you buy support, why don't you wait it out until the bears created a new pullback for you to adjust the stop to the upside. Leave...

Remove the Pattern Day Trading Rulle - Vote

I second it only to a certain degree. Here is why: How about trading in a simulation account while trying to learn the "knack" of it? It's there for a reason. Traders have to be aware that the risk remains identical with any instrument if they lack the fundamental knowledge on how markets...

Intel Macs & Trading Software.... good/bad idea?

I'm running XP off a MacBook Pro (with Fusion). My software is MultiCharts and I tried NinjaTrader, too. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1796343 It's performing so well that you wouldn't know it's actually running on a Mac. Very happy and can recommend it if you are...

    Any OpenTick Users?

Using it with MultiCharts. OpenTick has frequent data lags and outages. It can get annoying when markets react to news and your data is lagging a few seconds. But I still use it because the Minis are free and I only trade bigger trends, therefore have no need for razorsharp data streams.

What's the most you ever spent in a night for fun?

Was your thinking, "Gosh, before I lose it all I better enjoy my money", correct? Ironically I have the biggest expenditures after a bad day and remain a cheap ass while things are running well.

    Futures also have time-decay, right?

Futures price fair value = I + FC - DY where I = stock index, FC = financing cost, DY = dividend yield Thus, if the current level of the index is 100, the annual financing cost is 12 percent, and the dividend yield is 8 percent, the fair value of the futures price with 3 months (one-forth...

    Trading Evolution Phases

Great post indeed, Alex. I personally would replace the first phase with "Learn why markets move". If you understand the war that's happening between bulls and bears it's unlikely you will get baffled at every move for or against you because you focus on the bigger picture. It all comes down...

Yes I'm a newbie. And yes I'd like to make a lot of money.

Here is your answer on WHAT to trade. As a newbie there is no better way to learn how markets move by watching either index ETF's or index futures. Dismiss the recommendations to trade individual stocks or currencies. Stocks are probably the most challenging to trade because of the reasons...

What a difference a week makes

You are too subjective! You hope for a stock to drop in a way you can get some flesh out of the market. Now in debt 22k from a high of +40k? I urge you to stop immediately, as you are showing a significant lack of experience.
