Can you give me some CEFs/ETFs/ETNs that you think are good or interesting?

Interesting! So that is a HUGE list of 6400+ funds. On each line I see a fund symbol, then another one that looks like it has the smallest amount of correlation with. So is that a list of essentially all funds, sorted in order, the order being that it starts with the ones that have the least...

Can you give me some CEFs/ETFs/ETNs that you think are good or interesting?

All per yahoo finance, SDY started trading 11/15/2005. Since then if you had been 100% invested in it you would have an IRR of 9.08% and a max DD of 54.75% (ouch!). SPY, for that same period - IRR of 9.20% and max DD of 55.19%. So yea, overall just a bit more return and a bit less DD than...

JEPI vs XYLG for CC approach

So, I got one that beats SCHD. Over that same period starting 10/20/11, the QQQs returned 16.92% IRR and a max DD of 35.12%. Versus 13.78% and 33.37% for SCHD, as stated previously. So the QQQ max DD was very slightly worse, but it smoked SCHD to the upside. Kind of surprised about that...

Thinking about profitability when shorting a stock

Thanks Suntrader. That makes the most sense - whether you are short or long, the broker is going to calculate the funds available in your account, margin, etc. based on what you got in (your entry price), whether its a buy or sale. Thanks!

Thinking about profitability when shorting a stock

Let's say you buy a stock. You buy it for $10. You sell it for $11. Your gain is $1, and $1 divided by $10 is a 10% return on your money. Conversely, let's say you short a stock at $10. It drops to $9. You buy it. So you've made $1. I think you profit there would be 10% too - again $1...

Can you give me some CEFs/ETFs/ETNs that you think are good or interesting?

Give me some tickers. Either ones that you think have performed excellent over time, either just generally good on a upside to draw-down ratio, or are interesting because of some other reason - maybe they don't go up quite as much, but they have a very low beta or negative beta, or they are a...

JEPI vs XYLG for CC approach

BRK88, I hear you, but its been an over 10 year period, and it is reasonable to expect at least one significant down year over a 10+ year period I think, I bet it happens on average more than that over the long haul. The fact that SCHD can perform almost as well as SPY in up years, but...

JEPI vs XYLG for CC approach

So. I was curious. I wanted to test these. XYLG is the youngest, first date with trade data is 10/5/20. So from then to current is what I ran for all 3 mentioned in the OP. Over that period, here are the scores: XYLG: IRR 7.5%; Max DD 21.3% JEPI: IRR 10.56%; Max DD 13.71% QYLD: IRR...

    Is technology still expensive?

Probably on average about "fair priced" now. Which, for tech, means its cheap. But honestly I have no clue, so don't listed to me. Sorry for wasting your time trader1974.

I think someone found the holy grail

2119.8% return since 4/2022? So well over a 2119.8% return annually? So if I had done that strategy starting in 4/2022 with $10,000 I'd have about a cool $2.1 MILLION today? Gulp.

Two questions about IB - interest on cash balances and auto electing for cash

I have an IB account. Two questions: 1. I've seen adds for like 3.83% interest or something like that on cash balances. I set up my account a loooong time ago. Can it qualify for this? Do I need to so something to start getting that interest? That is better than putting your spare cash in...

Oh isn't this just grand. Since I posted this thread, we are way up. We bottomed. Just like I said in my OP. But someone with low self esteem keeps screeching like a little girl about how I am wrong to make her feel better. LOL, feels good mon. :)
