    Reverse Collars

Thanks Eliot. Let's kick off with the definition of a reverse collar. It is the opposite of a regular collar (buy stock, buy puts, short calls to finance the long puts): 1) Short the stock 2) Long the Calls 3) Short Puts ---- Further on the definitions: (1) and (2) combined are...

    Buying/Selling Options

Eliot, I'd really like that. But, just so you know, sure I really like them, but nobody should take me for an expert on the subject. Happy to discuss it but not at all interested in any sort of a debate whatsoever. 4Q

    Buying/Selling Options

MajorUrsa, on the Optionetics Boards the subject of synthetic equivalencies has often been discussed. On Scott's Board there is a lengthy thread I started around Thanksgiving time. It deals with AAPL. I was explaining to Scott that I have been using a reverse collar with a calendarized twist...

    Buying/Selling Options

Fair enough, Mav. Actually there isn't any justification for personal attacks on another individual's character, whether or not one works for a particular company or not. Over time both Scott and Steve have taken numerous shots at me. I have chosen not to reciprocate in kind, but rather to...

    Buying/Selling Options

Wayne, thanks for your response. My nature is such that I don't consider anyone's ideas as "invalid" and not worthy of consideration. That's why I consider myself to be privileged to be able to participate on both boards. 4Q

    Buying/Selling Options

Hi Phil. If you get the chance can you take a look at what I wrote this morning where I said in Scott's forum that I am experimenting with doing a Bull Call Spread (BCS) and blending it with shorted stock in order to manage the deltas. The use of the BCS is the result of Mav's explaining the...

    Buying/Selling Options

Wayne, that quote was only the opening line of Scott's posting. Further down he acknowledges that Verticals can be rolled. However, his point was that rolling, or adjusting, verticals requires 4 transactions, thus 4 commissions and 4 slippages. Although that fact alone would not tip the...

    Buying/Selling Options

And I thought G'day was a synthetic alternative to 4Q. Speaking of 4Q, I have a cheap deep OTM Put Butterfly open on 4Q. I'd love to see it somehow head south of 40 by March expiration. That trade is the lottery ticket Christmas present I bought for myself.

    Buying/Selling Options

Coach, thanks so much for pointing me to the Options Thread and the Journals Thread. For sure I'll check them out. By the way, for the past three months or so, I've been concentrating principally on AAPL. Mostly, I'm shorting the stock and buying calls...frequently adjusting to control the...

    Buying/Selling Options

jj90, it was encouraging reading of the merits of this ET board. So far I've been in this thread only. If you, or anyone else, has any suggestions as to how I might obtain max benefit from these boards, it would be very much appreciated. 4Q

    Buying/Selling Options

I noticed. And it took me since 1998 to get 3850 at the optionetics board. Phil, speaking of Optionetics, do you still subscribe to Platinum? I do...on a monthly basis.

    Buying/Selling Options

Thanks Coach. By the way how long did it take you to accumulate those 4450 Postings? I thought I was a chronic over at the other place with my 3850. 4Q

    Buying/Selling Options

I figured out why I enjoy participating here so much more than over there. It's the atmosphere. Here, the people don't take themselves so seriously. Here, nobody has a vested financial interest in whether anyone else follows their BS or not. The free spirit here is infectious. If it were...

    Buying/Selling Options

Let's think about the following quote: "Turn 2k into a million in a year. All you need is your bought option to double, do it nine times and you're done! I've done it twice myself" ------------------------------- Actually, I've done it several times myself. But always with a HP...

Any possibility that you all could ease up on Peter and Scott? I've always felt that it doesn't make me any better if I am critical of another person. There's so much constructive information we have to share.

    Buying/Selling Options

Hi Phil. I think I'm going to like it here. Matter of fact I already am. By the way, I don't know anyone who wouldn't give their left (whatever) to do 10% per month compounded. 4Q

    Buying/Selling Options

IV Trader, thanks for the response. No, I did not do a comparative analysis to other strategies. I've just been happy with the results. If we experience a downward market, what I am doing can easily be adjusted in several ways to create a bearish bias. For sure, I'm no expert by any means.
