    How to begin my career

I asked something similar to this, but more about prop firms helping to build your name, which appears that they don't. The only solid answer I got was, create a Twitter account and start calling your live trades. Finance and trading are 2 different things.

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

I'd love to see some EAs that don't blow up real accounts. I found a concept the other day on a different forum. If someone coded it, I'm very sure it would work in real life.

    Which broker?

If you live in the US, I'd suggest MB Trading. Stay away from FXCM 'cause their spreads aren't good and they have some history of screwing the clients with slippage. It really doesn't matter what platform you trade on. I do fine on MT4 or any other platform. Broker, yes, they can affect your...

Regulations restrict US clients from using Trading platforms?

check out MB Trading. I had an account with them and no complaints (except the leverage which is out of their control). I think they have a couple of different platforms to choose from. What's wrong with MT4? I've been using it for a few years now and have just gotten used to it. I have a...

Do prop firms help build your name?

dealmaker, maybe the OPM later on. This is what I'm getting at. You have to have a name and good performance for anyone to ever let you manage their money. Recognition, hell yeah. These guys in the media make 30% a year and people are awestruck and throw their cash at these guys.

Do full-time forex traders exist or is it just make believe?

I live from retail forex trading. The principles are the same. I could do the same thing with a futures account, but I like being able to show off my results, and people can let me autotrade for them. I trade intraday and do some swing trading. Today was really slow because I woke up too...

Do prop firms help build your name?

very cool jessica. Sounds like you were working for a company and now on your own. First-hand stories are always the best. I'll just stick to trading my own account. No headaches that way. I keep track the results here: http://www.myfxbook.com/members/trade4you_brazil/mt4-iron1/532014...

nazz, yeah, it's very strict is what it is. I don't blame them. After all, it's THEIR money on the line. From what I'm reading, everywhere else makes you put down a security deposit or pay for training. If the training at those other places are so good, then why do I read about people blowing...

Do prop firms help build your name?

I searched and really couldn't find anything like this. Anyone who trades at a prop outfit, please let me know. Reading many of the threads on the prop trading on this site, it seems like leverage and profit split for most people. I'm looking more for recognition for thrashing the indexes...

nazzdack, it doesn't look like a slam dunk. I will have to be very cafeful with position size and the actual trades that I take. 10 days is really short amount of time to make a decent profit and keep drawdown to a minimum. And I don't have my EURJPY... Oh well, if I don't pass it, I always have...

in case you can't see the links (they work best with firefox), here's my equity curve at 118% profit (real profit 90%). In case you're wondering, I trade mostly EURJPY, but also work with EUR, GBP, CAD. With this combine, looks like I'll have to stick to 6E, 6B, and ES.

I do pretty well with my own accounts, but I don't think anyone will give me a job without a track record at a real firm. So I signed up for the combine. Wish me luck. If you're thinking that you "do well" then why work with someone else? Because I want to be on magazine covers :) Here are my...
