    order fills

Basically, Datek is horrible. Get with the times and go with a direct access broker. You simply CANNOT be a serious trader without streaming Level 2 quotes and direct access trading IMO.

    DMI/ADX consistently works

I agree, ADX cannot make a call alone. ADX is a determining factor, but you need something to base it against (PDI, MDI).

How much $$ is required to be Scalp Day Trader ?

I use the PRO software offered by Realfasttrader. I've been trading with them for a while and I have a decent flat rate (considering I generally trade 2k-3k shares at a time). I mostly use them for the software though. Their PRO software makes the DMI indicator real easy to use and that is the...

    DMI/ADX consistently works

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a discussion and then abandon this thread, but I went away to the Jersey Shore this weekend. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the DMI method of trading. It can be a little difficult to answer questions when we discuss other softwares platforms because...

How much $$ is required to be Scalp Day Trader ?

I think you can day trade (even scalp) with as little as $25k - $30k. That would give you over $100k intraday buy power. Think about it stocks like CSCO, INTC and MSFT all trade for around $20 - $30 per share. That means 2000 shares only takes up $40K - $60k buy power. I generally day...

    DMI/ADX consistently works

I ONLY enter a trade when ADX (white line) is on the top. I never trade when ADX is at the bottom or between the PDI/MDI lines. In my experience the only correlations that work are when ADX is at the top, then you just need to see which (MDI/PDI) is at the bottom to determine the call. It is...

    DMI/ADX consistently works

There is no price correlation necessary IMO. What you need to see is ADX (white line) break above the middle line (MDI or PDI) and whichever line is on the bottom MDI (green) and PDI (red) determines the call. I set them up like MDI (green) and PDI (red) because it makes sense in my mind...

    DMI/ADX consistently works

I use a smooth period of 15. I'm telling you DMI works way better than MACD and Stochastics in my experience. The DMI works on all levels of chart: 1 minute, 5 minute, 1 day, 1 month etc... When you look at the buy/sell call and the stock price it consistently works. I don't know why more...

    DMI/ADX consistently works

I use a 1 minute chart and a 2 minute chart on the stock (obviously both have the DMI on them) and a 2 minute Nasdaq futures chart. The 1 minute chart generally makes the call and the 2 minute confirms it.

    DMI/ADX consistently works

I had mentioned the DMI in a Stochastics thread and got like 10 people mailing me about it, so I figured the best way to discuss it would be a new thread. Anyway, I use the DMI/ADX almost exclusively (DMI is the Directional Movement Index & ADX is the Average Directional Movement Index ). The...

    Mortgage Rates (up or down)

Damn, I am in contract on a new house and I'm pissed because these rates are screwing me. When I started the process the rates were like 5.38 no they're 6.38. This is all within a month. I could lock anytime. I'm just wondering on your opinions in the short term. Do you thinnk the rates are...

PDT (pattern day trading) rule is UNAMERICAN

Actually I know a firm that has done it that way since the rule came out and it is not who you mentioned. Maybe you should rethink your position, because it's a fact. I really don't care to argue about it. I have far more than $25k so it doesn't really matter to me anyway. I just thought...

    The Stochastic Indicator

Take it from someone who actually makes money as a full time sel-employed day trader. The ONLY indicator I have ever found that consistently makes easy to read correct buy and sell signals is DMI (Directional Movement Index) combined with the ADX (Average Directional Movement Index). I...

PDT (pattern day trading) rule is UNAMERICAN

You can write as many petitions as you want, but you're being delusional if you think that will make them change or repeal this rule. Seriously, the SEC/NASD couldn’t care less about some online petition. I agree that this rule is total BS, but the best you can do is try to work within the...

    Pattern day trading

If you have less then $25k, you can make 3 day trades in a 5 day period. If you make the 4th trade in that period, then you violate the rule and your account gets restricted to cash only trading for 90 days.

    Pattern day trading

I have traded through Realfasttrader.com for the past 6 months or so. I'm sure they follow all NASD rules. I have over $25k in my account, but I have spoke to several people over there over the last 6 months and they are definitely on the up and up. I like them a little better than IB and...

    Credit Spreads

I would probably cover before it ever got exercised. I have substantial equity and can cover the naked put's margin call. However, I wouldn't even sell the puts if I thought they would be exercised. I have to be fairly confident that the stock will not touch the strike, let alone strike +...

    Credit Spreads

I have to admit, I like the Dec COF 25 put sale, it looks like a smart trade. Good premium and risk/return, stock hasn't touched that price since August. I might piggy back you on the 25 put and sell 100 contracts. Not the cover side though, I'll assume the risk. I hope you don't mind.

    Selling premium

Selling fairly far out of the money calls and puts is an excellent way to make extra money. I do it every month. I have done VERY well for years doing this. I think it is the easiest way to make consistent profits. You do need a fairly substantial amount of capital for the margin requirements...

    How do you make profits?

Trade like it's a job, not like it's your money. EMOTION is the #1 killer of profits. Take emotion out of the game follow a strategy and profits will follow. Well.....maybe.
