Why Do Most Traders Lose MOney?

Because most traders are greedy and scared. You can't worry about losses. You have to be willing to cut them. You don't have to win on every trade, just more than you lose on. Most traders let a little loss turn into a huge loss because they're scared and greedy (AKA: stupid).

    Under $5,000 for daytrading

I know of a direct access broker that gives you 4x buying power with less than $25k. However, they only let you have it if you are not a pattern day trader. If you become a pattern day trader (violate the 3 in 5 days rule) they take away the 4x. No broker can give you 4x if you are a pattern day...

Best stock to watch to learn to daytrade?

I'd go with a stable (if there is such a thing) high volume nasdaq stock like CSCO or INTC.

    Trading with Market Profile

29, BA/Finance. I made a killing in the early 90's bull market (much of it while I was still in college) and have been trading full time for myself since 1996. I live in NYC. Love the city, love the nightlife, love the women, well at least the beautiful ones and there are plenty in this town.

    Direct Access vs. Non-direct

I beg to differ. The slippage at an Ameritrade or Etrade can really screw you. There is nothing like an all purpose level 2 direct access software for execution speed and realtime account management. You may get a 2 second fill at Ameritrade on one order and then a 60 second fill on another...

What's the best method to keep yourself from overtrading?

You have to make sure you're not just trading because you're bored. Sometimes I find myself placing a trade just to have some action. That is just plain stupid, and the winning percentage is definitely lower on boredom plays. That usually happen during midday. Stick to your strategy and don't...

    Day trading simulation softwares

These guys have a free level ii simulator for trading stocks. http://www.realfasttrader.com/ The quotes are real time and I think it's good for a week. The only other firm I know of that has a simulator is Cybertrader, but you said you didn't want theirs. If you're a newbie to active...

It can't be ARCA because I have had no problem using that route through my broker.

Where can l learn basic L2 reading and...

You should try a Level 2 simulator. There are a few sites that offer a free simulator. I highly recommend trying one and doing some paper trading BEFORE you start risking your own capital. ] Send me a Private Message and I'll tell you where you can find one. ( I'd tell you here, but I don't...

    Kicking & Ignore

Relax, I would suggest trying valium. If you don't like someone, just ignore them. What purpose does shoving it in their face serve? If you put them on ignore and you don't have to read their posts anymore, then why do you care if they know that or not? You're ignoring them anyway, isn't that...

    I discovered The best strategy!!!

I cut my losers and loosers. You can't keep those losing stocks or loose chicks. The only difference is that I never want a loser stock, sometimes a loose chick is just what I need.

    free level2 quotes @ speedtrader.com

I used to use them, they're not bad for someone who is new to direct access. They actually do have per share rates .015 per share. Not bad if you're not trading too many shares each trade. I don't know about that Open Ex, but the Speedtrader Pro software was very easy to use and executed...

NYSE Trading -- Is this legal?

A couple things may cause that: Stock ahead - order in ahead of yours Program trading orders - from program trading systems Direct plus orders - NYSE Direct+ provides automatic and immediate executions of limit orders up to 1,099 shares at the published NYSE quote. Any of these would get...

    Moment of Silence

I was 3 blocks away and watched the second plane crash into the south WTC building from the end of Wall st. Close enough to be scared that I would get hit with shrapnel from the explosion. Two buildings that many of my friends worked in. Innocent people going to work just like they did everyday...

Any low cost online brokers that can short <$5 stocks?

All these posts are really surprising to me. Stocks below $5 are not marginable, if they are not marginable how could you possibly short them. I read that SEC post and it does make it sound like you can, but I still don't think any real firm would allow it. Maybe you could do it in a cash...

Any low cost online brokers that can short <$5 stocks?

Stocks below $5 are not marginable and therefore not shortable. That is an NASD rule, so any broker that tells you you can short stocks below $5 is full of sh**. Any firm that allows you to do that is violating NASD rules and you can bet they'll get burnt for it eventually.

    Windows 2000 service pack 3

I agree. You should always wait several months, so MSFT can fix any bugs. There are always a few that slip past the programmers.
