    Bright Trade

There are alot of other funds and black boxes that crank out the same pairs as Don's teams. As these participants scale in and out of their pairs, the stocks begin to move in unpredictable ways which diminishes the effectiveness of the paired trade. That's why funds are now bringing their pair...

Snake oil originally came from China, where it was used as a remedy for inflammation and pain in rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, and other similar conditions. Chinese labourers on railroad gangs involved in building the Transcontinental Railroad to link North America coast to coast gave it to...

    Bright Trade

Pair trading is tough in a trending market. It's mostly suited for an oscillating market. The basic premise is good but the way stocks have been moving lately, it's tough to eke out a decent profit.

    Bright Trade

That's a pretty good scheme. Bright hooks you with the $10K-20K equity "contribution." Once you're in their cross hairs, they push $1000+ trading seminars, retreats, etc. to help you "become a better trader". AND they earn risk-free interest on your money. AND they charge the highest...

Hey, if I wanna make a cash donation in Vegas, I'd rather do it at the Bellagio or MGM Grand than Bright Trading. At least you can get comp drinks and the babes are hot!

Ouch, break out the vaseline! Now I may not be a math genius, but even I can see that you can't make money with that trading objective and crazy fee structure!

    Really Big Bucks

It's not that difficult for these bigshot hedge fund traders to buy billions of dollars worth of stock in an undervalued company, join the board of directors, oust the underperforming management team, bring in some turnaround specialist or brand name manager, and watch their investment...

    Another one hangs it up

My point exactly. Most newbies don't understand that making a great living from prop trading is a "dream-type profession." Their energies would be better served by focusing on a traditional job, or if they are smart and hungry enough, starting their own business.

    Another one hangs it up

Most prop traders who hang up their gloves are not big swingers who put on multi-million dollar positions and one day just blow up. I've been in the business from 1999-2004 and most guys just get so caught up in the trading dream. Magazines like Trader Monthly (just a glorified Robb Report)...

    Automated Trading

Are the Cool-trade strategies more suited for trending markets? How do they do in a choppy, sideways trading market? I'm worried that I'll just pay a lot in commissions by getting stopped out of trades and re-entering them unless my stops are wide enough.

    Automated Trading

I think Cool Trade is a good option for former full-time daytraders like myself who'd like to stay involved with the market while running another kind of business. Does Cool Trade do the executions for you or does it work in conjunction with your broker? Also, how sophisticated are the stock...

Has anyone had experience with Cool Trade automated software (www.cool-trade.com). It seems like a good alternative for traders without much programming experience.

For guys at Schony, Trillium, Opus, Hold, or institutional traders

Looks like you could teach these "veterans" a thing or two! 30% in this environment is flat out AWESOME!! Are you doing intra-day scalping or long term trading? Most likely you're doing the latter. Keep up the good work!

    Simple strategy, big profit potential?

How about selling when your stop loss is hit instead of all those other indicators you mentioned?

    click fraud?

What is this supposed to mean? Without price reference, this comparison is meaningless. You can lose your shirt while trading YHOO but keep it while trading DELL even though the charts may look the same. The prices mean EVERYTHING! A one-minute tick chart looks the same as a 5-minute tick...

    click fraud?

I agree except for one thing. When your .20 cent stop on the $40 stock is hit, you can get out while only losing .20 cents. When your 2 point stop is hit on a $400 stock you'll most likely lose an extra dollar or two! OUCH!

    click fraud?

The volatility on a $400 stock is MUCH higher than on a $40 stock with $1 range. You can easily be on the wrong side of every trade. It's like trying to ride a wild bull! With the $40 stock, entry points are much calmer and you can really minimize your losses. It's easier to trade. I...
