We have a volume spike on Friday,

Can we have an example of this?

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Are you saying the Dow is the more accurate representation of the market than the ES? Or are you saying in the context of his post the Dow made more sense? If the latter, was I supposed to search all known indexes to find one where the three points he mentioned lined up? I'm confused...

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Well dude no wonder they didn't line up on my chart because I was talking ES and you were talking Dow!

It means more shares were traded than usual :p

Here's a pic showing what I'm talking about.

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Those three lows do not form a straight line on my chart. Can you please post a chart of what you're talking about?

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Well, it's been broken now either way :p

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Ok, that makes sense. It bothers me when people draw trendlines based on the candle close because it seems like you're ignoring data. Using the lowest point on the whole candle represents a valid price that the instrument actually traded at. What is your reasoning for using the body of...

Only two trendlines have not been broken

So I am clear, you are saying that because I used the bottom of the daily range on the first two points to create the trendline, I therefore have to declare it broken when the daily range goes below the line, correct?

Only two trendlines have not been broken

I have heard uptrends defined in the following ways: 1) a series of HH/HLs (some people say H/HL, some people say HH/HL, some people say HL/HH/HL, some people say HH/HL/HH/HL) 2) Anchor R becoming S 3) Trendlines 4) the slope of a MA I have been unable to fine one that...

Only two trendlines have not been broken

Here is a daily chart of the ES. The black trendlines have been broken (price went through them). The purple trendlines have not yet been broken yet, although the top one may be broken soon. If the bottom one breaks, does that mean we are no longer in an uptrend?

I'll agree with that. You need to factor in commissions and slippage. And make sure it's not curve fitted. And I'm sure there are some systems that would be very hard to backtest, such as very short timeframe systems, ones that use data that is difficult to collect historically such as DOM...

The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

In my experience the only people who say "backtesting is useless" are scammy system vendors and "gurus" who don't want to acknowledge that their systems backtest unprofitably because then their followers would move on to someone else. This goes double if the scammy guru is charging money for...

The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

Why? That sounds like fib voodoo (the belief that fib numbers are better than other numbers, for example, that 233 tick charts will somehow "work" but 232 or 234 will not).

Man, trading silver ETFs is kind of hard. All the big price swings seem to happen overnight in the futures when the stock market is closed, and then they go back to normal before the market opens. Check out this chart. I highlighted the afterhours in grey and kept normal trading hours in...

The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

I've tried to install Ninja Trader a few times but it never worked for some reason. I have Windows 7 64 bit. I can identify HH/HL/LL/LH manually, I'm not sure why I need an indicator to do so. What I said was I cannot identify them in real time. Day trade. See below. The best...
