State Income Tax - Is it Worth it?

I was looking at the thread on where everyone is from and I was wondering about those of you who live in states with high income tax and/or high property tax. My question is: Is it worth it? For example, if you make $250K and live in California, income tax is about 10% - $25K per year. If...

    Home alone vs office

For a lot of people, this is a career change and not a casual thing. I have a number of remote traders that have started by temporarily reloacting for a period of time (3 months or so) to go trade in an office. Some of these people move across country to be with the best traders they can...

Looking For a Prop Trading Firm

Reminds me of that Little Rascals show where they had a cart hooked up to a donkey. When they wanted to go forward, they had a carrot on a string at the end of the stick held out in front of the donkey and the donkey would walk forward to try to reach it. When they wanted to stop, they hid the...

INCA in talks to buy ISLD

So I guess now we'll only have two ECN's: INCA/ISLD REDI/ARCA Will this be good or bad? A lot of people like to put an order on an ECN without a lot of stock already sitting there. That way, when the "sweeper" programs kick in, Your stock will be picked off sooner than if you were...

    Home alone vs office

That's the way I've always felt. In an office, I've found myself "jumping on" something based on "office momentum". This is not the best way to trade and can lead to overtrading - not a good thing.

    Home alone vs office

I've traded in an office and home alone. I've lost and made money at both. Here's my take on the advantages/disadvantages: Home Advantages: No commute Quiet work environment Costs are less Home Disadvantages: No one to bounce ideas off of No one to give you a heads up on a news...

Why aren't chart scanner and workspace assistant available? I have TS2k and the lack of those items are what has kept me from going to TS6. How can you do multiple studies without these? That's my promary use of the product. Are there any plans to add it? I'd like to not have to deal with...

    prop firms and etfs

At Bright, we have a lot of people that trade the QQQ's, some trade the SPY's. They quite often put it out on REDI, ARCA, or ISLD as opposed to sending it to the floor. Sometimes they can buy on the bid that way when there's too much ahead on the floor. Sometimes they send to the floor to...

    1x1 size on NYSE

Thanks for the excellent info Lescor! So if you get filled for 15 cents outside the bid/offer, would you try to cover for a 7 cent profit right away, or would you look to work it a bit more? I know that a lot of pair traders like this strategy so that they can "lean" on the other stock if...

Looking For a Prop Trading Firm

There's always the east coast, or if you want to get up an hour later, the Carribbean. Or a few hours later, Europe. Etc., etc., etc.! A trader can recoup his losses in snacks alone with amount of goodies that Bright has at that office!
