    Don Bright

Geeeeez! C'mon already! You're in a thread that has "Don Bright" in the title. You KNOW that Don is going to be talking about Bright Trading. You apparently get violently ill when Don talks about Bright Trading. So, the question is: Why do you EVEN READ THE THREAD??? You're like those...

    Remote Prop Firms

We use RediPlus at Bright Trading. It has a very configurable hotkey functionality. We also have remote trading. Let me know if you need more info. Regarding the question about using hot keys as a reason to use a firm. Well, first, I'd have to say in today's day and age, if a firm's...

    Is this trade legal?

There are all types of smart order routing depending on your broker. Even if your broker says they route to get you the best price, that usually means during market hours. All bets are off outside of market hours because exchanges and ECNs may not be pro-active... they may not be required to...

    What do these results mean?

The first question to ask yourself is can you go 17 months, after being up a little and then now down and stick with your strategy? That's what you would have had to do starting July 15, 2001. Cash

    Remote trading with Bright

Leverage depends on risk. Typically, traders start with 20:1 intraday, 5:1 to 10:1 overnite. (they join as members of our LLC, are licensed and have no Reg-T issues). Then we adjust from there based on their volatility and experience with them. I have a number of traders who use over 100:1 at...

    Remote trading with Bright

The only difference is that as a remote trader, you pay a $200/mo seat fee, and if you do 200K shares in a month, then you get that rebated back to you. As an in-office trader, you pay a $400/mo seat fee and if you trade over 12M shares in a year, you get it all rebated back to you.

Any ideas on how to tell if it's going to be aq light day?

Yes, I definitely pay attention to the overseas markets as an important pre-market indicator for this. It seems to me that the more volatile they are, the more active the US markets. I'm not familiar with a pre-market exchange imbalance report... can you give me a link to a reference of that...

    Remote trading with Bright

Remote vs. In-office is a very personal choice. For the less experienced traders, if you get in the right office, it can be a very beneficial experience. If you're already experienced and have a plan that is working for you, then remote let's you implement it in privacy without distraction...

    Remote trading with Bright

I'm Bright's remote trading manager, so while my answers will be accurate, I might have a more opinionated view on your more subjective questions. But if you have any specifics, please ask away. I like them, started as a trader with them in 97 because I felt they were solid, gave me good...

Any ideas on how to tell if it's going to be aq light day?

Do you find that lower volatility in the futures overnight results in lower volume to start the day off?

Any ideas on how to tell if it's going to be aq light day?

No such presumption. In fact low volume can present some good opening and intraday volatility just because there are fewer people to take the other side. THis is precisely why I'm trying to find an indicator of such.

Any ideas on how to tell if it's going to be aq light day?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to tell if it's going to be a light day? I'm looking for some kind of pre-market indication of whether or not the trading day is going to be a lower than average volume one. Days like yesterday (July 3rd), are pretty easy to see that they will cause it was...

    What am I not seeing?

Yeah, that's where the art of it comes into play. No pat answer there. When you do it with stocks, you throw in fundamentals, so with indices, you might want to throw in some technical indicators like MoneyFlow, VWAP, MA crossovers, stochastics, MACD, etc to determine if you want to be on...

    What am I not seeing?

Quote, yes, add the same amount and when it comes back to where you put on your prior layer, take it off, taking your profit. Repeat as needed. THe real trick is determining the price difference between layers so you don't have to put on too many, cause if you do, and it never comes back, you...

    What am I not seeing?

The illiquidity is what you may be missing. Would you be able to just take the offer or hit the bid and still get that same .2%? Then it may be ok... but if you have to buy on the bid or sell on the offer, to get that, then it could be problematic. And you shouldn't need a stop for this type...
