Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

Exactly you have none. I am trying to find my way, just like everybody else. But I think we’ve already established that making a decent living is much harder than 30 years ago for most. So everybody who is trying to get ahead nowadays is swimming upstream. Just when they start to get above...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

We’re all anxiously waiting for your solutions. Oh wait. You don’t have any. It’s the typical, work harder for the same thing or less. Either that or become the guy screwing everybody.

No, it’s $12 in 1975. $37 is indexed to inflation.

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

Here you go again. People want to talk about the problems we face and you just ignore everything and say we complain too much. No doubt 250 years ago you would have been the one telling Jefferson and Adams to quit complaining about King George. "Pay those taxes" you would have said. "Let British...

Yes they are self made, but then again so were slave owners. Maybe that’s a bad example, but what I mean is I want to be self made, but also bring value to what I do. Gates might bring a little value, but we don’t know how much because nobody has really dared to compete with him. I heard...

Pilotboy, you can’t reason with Trader666. He is insistent on tearing down the little guy and belittling everything they do. In high school, I’m sure he was the one picking on all the geeks. You, like I, are seeing a world that is falling apart and becoming a screw or be screwed economy. His...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

Ok you’re not getting it. This thread is called “Even with inflation it took one worker to support a family.” I’m telling you why and you don’t want to hear it. You know, denial is not a river in Egypt. $37 (it is a large local union grocery store) an hour to be a cashier is...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

They did this in the pizza delivery business too. When gas hit $3, they put on a deliver charge. It started at $1. Of course it doesn’t actually go to the driver who pays for the gas, but that’s besides the point. When gas hit $4 it goes to $2 a delivery, still the driver got none of it. Now...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

These are some stats I came up with a while ago. I took the CPI, which we all no is bogus, and used that to find out what minimum wage should be if it were indexed to it. My conclusion is that in 2007 it should have been $8.83. Then I took the average cost of a house in the in 1975 and the...

See, you can’t give real life examples like this around here. Once these people realize all their bashing on the middle class and poor is flawed, they simply stop posting. Watch this. Give some more real life examples, and this thread will be more dead than a turkey on Thanksgiving. They want...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

So then people don’t live movie star lifestyles like you say?! Why are you so insistent that people not have anything? The rich get bailouts and bonuses, the poor get laid off and critisized for having cable tv. Let’s talk about some of the things I expected, but see so far away. In 1975...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

What do you define as lavish? Health insurance increasing 15% a year? Ever increasing education costs? Escalating food costs? We’ve already established that towhouses and apartments are all full. That the mcmansions you talk about don’t really exist. People all around are driving old cars...

Even with inflation in 1970. It only took 1 worker

This is true. I have experienced this first hand. In high school I worked at a grocery store and got $9.50 an hour. Now, I am struggling to find a job that just pays $10. Right now I would take $10 and 40 hours just so I can get back on my feet. The job market is getting so tight.

You’re so full of crap it’s not even funny. You hear one story of this on Fox News (I know that’s probably what you watch) and think that everybody’s like that. Pull your head out of your ass and take a look around you. I don’t see mcmansions everywhere, I see townhouses and...

What if we STRUCTURALLY have more people than there are jobs?

Yes I would have to agree with this rather than say that wages are too high. It’s not that wages have increased, but that that the cost of living has increased at an even faster rate. Until recently, people could just borrow more and more because they weren’t making more money to pay for...

    Democrat Speeches Are SO Depressing!

I never said I liked Obama. I said he talks better. He inspires people. Can you say the same about Bush? I didn’t vote for him and I voted for Bush in 2004. He’s being realistic now. Great speeched are nice, but we need to get down to business and fix this now. That’s what he’s trying to...

    Democrat Speeches Are SO Depressing!

You have got to be kidding. When was the last time we ever heard Bush say anything inspirational, or any Republican for that matter. No, every time he talked we cringed and clenched our teeth in horror that we may be hearing the next Bushism. Every time he would talk about the economy, he’d...

You’re right people should get their priorities straight. Instead spending it on the cable bill they should send it to Chase who triples their interest despite their perfect credit history so that Joe 3 button suit can get a $10 million bonus instead of 5. They should definitely drop Showtime...

Why are you guys bashing people and their $100 cable bills so much? My health insurance has been going up 15% a year. People with perfect credit history are having their interest rates jacked to 25% for no reason. Education costs are escalating non stop. Don’t you remember $4.15 for gas just a...

Most people don’t understand how the Fed slowly steals all of their money from them. I didn’t. When I heard people talking about the Fed creating all of the inflation, I thought that was weird because they all come out and say they are trying to control it. Now I realize that that is just a...
