Individual exchange members in Chicago : what structure?

What I wrote was sincere - I was reflecting on how the job I do and the opportunities I have had simply didn't exist as recently as 15-20 years ago. Further, I never cease to be amazed and humbled by the caliber of people I have interacted with in the trading world who have shared their...

Individual exchange members in Chicago : what structure?

I would be delighted to have the opportunity to be of service in this way, and thank you for the excellent suggestion to pay it forward by sharing the information I have received. Its inspiring that thanks to modern technology and a generous helpful spirit, an independent trader in Europe can...

    RM's occasional market calls...

I'm out of all my gold at 1475. That is 35 points off the PDL, or $3,500 a contract. Even without tight stops and good timing, traders should have been able to pull in at least 20 points today. Trading at a conservative 1 lot per $20k equity, that is a possible return of 10%. Thanks very...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Yes. No trendlines, no indicators, no textbook stuff, no DOM. I had given some of my reasoning for the gold longs over on Rearden Metal's call thread. I was inspired by RM's short gold call before the big break and his generosity in sharing and inspiring others, so thought I'd participate a...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Is todays example good enough? Gave my entry price and target in advance. You must appreciate I'm live trading multiple markets and this is about the quickest I can do it. That is 4/4 on this thread. Any interest in predicting without trendlines?

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

I wrote the above at 06:54 EST. Look what happened to the volume just after. ET: not just for pikers. Looks like there was indeed some big boy buying...I wonder who... Out, 1460.2. It may go higher...later.

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Note how quiet the gold market has gone. I smell blood... What is the old saw, never short a quiet market? Would not want to be sitting short now, thats for sure. If any of the big boys fancy buying a few thousand to push it higher, here would be the place.

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Long 1450. This one may not work. Some of them don't. If this low holds, I'm targeting 1460 minimum. Then the reaction there will set up whether I exit or hold.

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Just covered 1454.0 They don't all work, and this one has had plenty time to go. +1.3 points. I'll look for another long around 1450 if I see what I need to.

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

As explained yesterday, I'm still bullish on gold. Here is another long trade. These entries are very low risk, and again no need for trendlines. The bigger picture view is helpful, as you know in advance which sort of day it will be (from high probability POV) and then you take the entries...

    RM's occasional market calls...

Stuck is interesting. Ideas where they would want or need to liquidate their positions? Or how much they are carrying? From what basis? With hedging, options, OTC stuff, can we really be sure what they hold? Hypothetically speaking, trying to imagine myself as a huge player long a lot of...

    RM's occasional market calls...

Exactly. I'll add something. While it isn't good to be in the market while people are waiting, watching, and choosing up sides (lack of consensus)...what can appear as apparent indecision can tell you which way the market will break. If you can time the end of the consolidation period, the best...

    RM's occasional market calls...

It is a good question. I don't like the short side here. I had a stab at buying it earlier, as a day trade. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=3795279#post3795279 I covered it immediately when it went off very hard at 07.17, similar to the spike at 05.10 EST. Experience...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Two actually this week. I'll try a before the fact trade later today in gold if the long I'm looking for sets up, time permitting. I'm looking for it to bottom between 1450 and 1447 today. If I see what I need to see, I'll try and post here in advance. I can't distract from my trading too...

At a Crossroads on Trading... Hope Someone can Help!

As others have pointed out, this seems to be the best place for you to start. Learn from those who have seen and done it all and make some good connections. This is ultimately a business which requires savvy. You're going to need to learn to think for yourself, trust your own judgement, when to...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Here is the trouble with posting calls online. One must be flexible with targets and adjust the trade management according to market conditions. In this case, the market rose 5 points in half the time which would be typical. That is the second time today we've had a very fast upward movement...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Lets have a stab at short term prediction. I mentioned Sunday evening looking for longs over the next few days. I've entered here with a 1 point stop. Targeting 1470 initially, and the reaction at those areas will tell me whether a continuation is likely. Bigger picture I am still looking for...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Common error: starting with the answer. If you could predict accurately without trendlines, would you still want to use them? Take short term daytrading of liquid futures markets. Your goal is to learn how to accurately predict changes in price in the immediate future. Then your method...

    When should you increase size?

I increase contract size pro rata with my account size. In your example, I would trade the first 2 lot the first day my account balance => 2x starting balance. Keep trading at the new size for the whole trading day. 1 to 2 is the biggest jump. After that, you can put it up incrementally...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

I forgot to add. There are a lot of "haters" here who will derail useful threads asking for the impossible and sharing nothing of value in return. I am not one of them, and would not ask someone to do what I would not be willing to do myself. I've given my own short term gold prediction on...
