    Serious Serious Question!

Ok, so when did Britain 'fall'? It was the undisputed global power from 1815 to 1945 but simply lost territory and influence. It still hasn't fallen as such. It has merely lost status. It is still a reasonably successful country.

    Investment returns: theory and practice

The best performing stock mutual fund for the first decade of this century was Ken Heebner's CGM Focus Fund. He managed to average 18% per annum over the 10 years. So no doubt investors in his fund would be pretty happy, right? Wrong. The average return achieved by investors in this fund over...

    Effect of QE2 ending

The point is, the Fed needs to stop QE for purely selfish reasons, i.e. any more of it will send it bankrupt. Therefore, the best and most face saving way out is to claim that it has been a success, so we don't need any more. I doubt the Fed will ever act against its OWN interests.

    Effect of QE2 ending

Agreed. We need QE3 because QE 1 and 2 have been so brilliantly successful :)

    Effect of QE2 ending

Because the Fed is going bankrupt trying to take other people's investments off their hands. See my earlier post.

    Effect of QE2 ending

Three points: 1) Since QE2 was announced last Summer, long bond prices have fallen like a rock. So much for intervention. 2) There is growing opposition both inside the Fed and politically to even allowing this round of QE to finish. 3) Monetizing other people's debt will eventually...

Economy looking good, QE2 may end early

This QE nonsense will end soon, not because the economy is doing well, but because the FED is afraid of going broke. It is a private company owned by some of the most powerful and shady people on earth, who really don't fancy being stuck with a pile of bonds that will be heading south. It's...

Now House Prices Will Drop Another 20%

Why are you a 'contrarian' trader? Obviously real estate prices will start going up again at *some* point in the future. Just wait until the asset-collateral-credit spiral cranks up again. When it does, it will last a decade or so. You don't have to get in at the bottom. Right now you will be...

Now House Prices Will Drop Another 20%

You need to understand that house prices go up only while credit is expanding, i.e. an ever increasing willingness for banks to book profits by making home loans. You need to have an increasing supply of lending chasing up house prices for them to increase. Can you see this happening any time...

Why most pro traders are gamblers, and why risk control prevents success with OPM

Even better, when their current fund is so far below the high water mark that it looks like they'll never be able to charge more fees they simply close it and start a new one. The word 'shameless' doesn't even come close.
