Daytrading the whole session versus calling it a day after reaching a profit target?

Err... The 80/20 isn't a trading rule as such. That's similar to the whole "markets trend x % of the time" estimate

Writing a call against a losing long call

I disagree. You can create a spread, you can then roll that spread to a future month if it becomes close to running within the spread. Managing options is one of the key things about them but you have to know what you're doing. What's difficult is that the environment is not really suitable...

Daytrading the whole session versus calling it a day after reaching a profit target?

Usually enter trades between 930-11, morning during lunch, then I look again about 230 onwards. But I trade discretionary so it's better suited for profit targets. If you were using a complete technical based system then you have to take every setup. My most profitable trades are in the morning...

I don't think JP Morgan owns everything though they probably would want to

Writing a call against a losing long call

You can, it then becomes a spread but if it rises above 21, you will start coming into loss territory. You could also buy a put if you think it's going further. You could also do calendar spreads.

Anyone go through SMB's tryout program?

There's another post on here about it - that OP had a good impression. Thought it was more realistic than the other "education" firms

Is this the most volatile market ever? I think so.

Volume seems to be dieing off again though. There was much more volume at the lows.

Is this the most volatile market ever? I think so.

Seems great to me. Straight down, straight up, straight down. Volatile but trending.

SQQQ UVXY & other inverses: Bear trading tips

The biggest problem with these is the daily rebalancing. In a sideways, slow market, or swingy, you'll lose just by holding. Better to short futures with leverage, no? I guess if it's in your retirement accounts you have no choice but need to be in and out quickly - it's for big moves only

    Interactive Brokers down today

Have you tried picking up the phone to tech support rather than posting on a forum? You also have the trade desk to adjust your stops. My connection is fine by the way so maybe it's a local issue?

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

That is exactly what I'm talking about. I am creating the order as a spread. Most suggest to place the limit at the mid. But the best price should usually be to buy the combo at the bid or rather buy the spread at the bid. But you can't because it's not just a buy, it's a sell as well. Is that...

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

If someone submits a market order to buy, which will be at the ask, that would fill my order, no?

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

Why does it have to be? If you were selling it naked you could sell it at the ask?

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

Then you are buying stock at bid and selling option at bid?

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

When you buy a covered call as a strategy you put a limit order in for the difference in some platforms. Eg Buy 200 stockA at 50 Sell 2 March 20 45 call for 1.9 Limit shows up as something like 48.1 bid or 48.2 ask Obviously I want to sell the call for as much as possible so where do you put...

Lol, the irony. Packing themselves into a small space where you pick up everyone else's viruses :)
