    U.S. competitiveness

Paying them to work on less than they could get on unemployment isn't either. People are going to accept that shit long term? Guess there's enough idiots in the US. Unionize! ;)

    Alert for trades in IB

Visual alert. Easy example though though this is not what I actually want: 20 ma crosses 50 ma and RSI < 20 on stock AMZN and no alert was signalled last hour then display a message on screen. Maybe send an email also

    Alert for trades in IB

Thanks but I don't want to pay extra charting fees. Prefer to use just the ib API alone.

    Alert for trades in IB

I want to be alerted but not necessarily take the trade automatically I have some programming experience but not sure whether to use their API or something else. How is shorting VIX right now not free money?

Leveraged short are rebalanced daily usually. So if the market goes rangey or sideways you'll be losing money. VIX was at 80 in March so if we get another turn off events you could be under water a while

Q: mechanics of IB maintenance margin/excess liquidity

Hmm then that is a little bizarre. Margin should not change that much. Just tell them your positions and ask why the individual stock changed. Usually this is done with an advance announcement

    I hate strong trend days

Depends on your MAs and timeframe but if it breaks the MAs and your MACD indicates then you reverse. On the trend days it will usually keep bouncing with the trend and not break the MAs. But yeah, you get crucified on the whippy days being why you have to couple with sentiment and news

    I hate strong trend days

Yeah but then you're getting short and getting out and reversing if so. The truly bad day with that strategy is a ranging one that bounces off s and r multiple times.

Vote: Crash, Consolidation or Pullback coming?

I tend to think that although earnings will be absolutely terrible, there has to be some other catalyst for a crash. Second wave, population debt, housing, etc. and we're not seeing it quite yet though there are rumblings. In the absence of that we could be in a range (albeit much lower than...

    I hate strong trend days

not really. Trend days work with moving averages and your can base it a bit on the strength of the move, news, sentiment. You sell on a retrace to the ma

Q: mechanics of IB maintenance margin/excess liquidity

Cash covered put doesn't make a difference, they base it on the volatility and price of the option. Check their margin webpage. I believe they liquidate the nearest dated options
