    Disturbing

This is and was my first thought, concern, and prediction on hearing the news release.

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Like for Quote Tracker, TDAT will also be "the end of the line" for TOS. It will take about two or three years for the stupid top management of TDAT to kill TOS.

    Best Broker/Platform for Mac User?

Unfortunately I must agree with your analysis. I would prefer to use Linux but must use my hated choice of Bill Gates' Windows to get the trading platforms, charting programs, accounting programs, and PC hardware support required to function the best for trading.:(

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

TOS will only get worse under TDAT ownership. Like a radioactive waste leak, TDAT management will contaminate every thing they touch.

Thanks, that is good to know.

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

estfx: Thank you for the link to the greencompany.com information on FX tax reporting considerations. There is a lot of information and I did not read it all but enough to conclude the IRS still has not taken a clear position on the tax treatment of FX spot market trading. For now I will...

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

estfx: Thank you for sharing your research that shows FX trading is not included included in my MBT "all in one" account. I do not use the FX market for currencies. I use futures when I am trading currencies for several reasons (my main reason has been the IRS unclear description of how to...

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

You may want to call MBT to see what they are currently doing if you can not confirm what I said from the MBT web site. I opened my MBT account several several years back. I had the choice of setting up individual accounts or a all in one. I did the "all in one" account and yes I write checks.

QuoteTracker No Longer Adding New Features - Being Abandoned

Sierra chart does not meet my needs and requirements. I used RealTick for 10 years and could use it again but it falls short of Quote Tracker.

QuoteTracker No Longer Adding New Features - Being Abandoned

Much of what Jerry Medved can do or say with respect to him getting back into anything having to do with charting software would depend on the terms of his contracts with TDA. Many anti-compete terms of buy/sell contracts have a time limit of 3 to 5 years on the seller.

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

I think you can do it "all in one account" with MB Trading. I trade stocks and futures with them from one platform and one account. They also have check writing on accounts. But that is where the good ends. The trading platform, back office, customer service, Penson Financial Services for...

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

I was using RealTIck for years for free until I tried QT. I found QT to be far better and I switched to QT. I would be willing to pay a monthly fee for the continued use of QT. I will also close the account I have with AT when they no longer support QT. I would like to see Jerry get QT back if...

IB Won't Release Deceased Client's Money

I also have been trying to evaluate if the POD selection is a good choice. POD selection might even be slower than making no choice and IB releasing the account to the estate. On my death, I would expect IB to be cautious and thorough when it comes to releasing the funds of my account to be sure...

    Ameritrade vs Interactive Brokers

A sure way to resolve this dilemma is to open an account at both IB and AT. You will then be able quickly see which broker works best for your trading.

    Ameritrade vs Interactive Brokers

Only on very liquid stocks can I even hope to buy 5000 shares with one limit price order. I have had little success with AT on such orders. I do better buying the 5000 shares in several small limit orders at IB's 1/2 cents a share price.

    Hot Swap question

For years I would turn off a PC (but not unplug the PC) and change any hardware other than the MB. I now unplug the power cord as PC's still have power to some parts of the MB with the PC turned off. This keeps me from killing a MB if I get a screwdriver in the wrong place. I sometimes still...

    Hot Swap question

The hard drive hot swap removable drive bays I have purchased all came with a required software installation disk. I never used the hot swap feature as I felt it was safer to turn off the PC to swap the hard drives.

looks like IBKR looking to acquire Tradestation

It seems many of retail brokers now have their own bank division as part of their business.

looks like IBKR looking to acquire Tradestation

I consider Peterffy to be about the best in his line of business As such, he should know the potential and value of his purchase of a 6.3% stake in TRAD. I think the 6.3% purchase will work out OK for him. Peterffy probably could get Tradestation back on track if he took total ownership. It will...

    IB or Thinkorswim

The Thinkorswim platform just looks more familiar and may therefore be easier to use without doing any reading of the platform user manual. IB's TWS has a lot of capability that I think make it worth reading through the TWS user manual prior to setting up and using TWS. You will not regret...
