    The most expensive bad habits

My retail trading was minimum, it was more or less a learning experience. Same with the first few months trading prop. My technical skills are improving and I'm starting to become consistently profitable - I just need to work on discipline. I don't think it makes sense to throw in the...

    The most expensive bad habits

I'm a relatively new trader... I've been trading retail for about three years, and I've been trading with a prop firm for almost 9 months. I almost walked away a stable job to trade prop full time... It's a goal of mine that I am working to achieve. In working towards this goal, I am...

Legal Action against a prop arcade?

You've touched on what I believe is the root cause of my challenges. I don't have a dedicated system. I wait for certain well-known patterns/setups, etc, and I trade them accordingly. I use simple indicators like trend lines, support, resistance - identify consolidation ranges and trade as the...

Legal Action against a prop arcade?

Not T3, but within walking distance... ..and I've been getting killed trading the markets. I guess that's just part of the learning curve.

    Prop commission negotiation

Looks like my account was still setup as it was when I joined the firm. I came in as a rookie, and I was limited to 10k per position. This limit has been removed and I now have full buying power. I've also just had my worst two weeks as a trader... Leverage is a double-edged sword... I still...

    Miners ETFs i.e.: $NUGT

Yes, they are incredibly volatile... I'm still working on my discretionary systems and I'm not doing very well with these volatile miners stocks. I'm looking for something that mirrors the futures contracts. Looks like I'll be trading GLD (is there something cheaper?). GDX would be a good fit...

    Prop commission negotiation

The more I read some of these replies, the more I feel like a fool for waiting months to raise a red flag with these guys. This was my first experience with a prop firm, these guys must have seen me coming a mile away. In my own defense, I did research the firm. I checked their filings with...

    Prop commission negotiation

Thanks guys. No I don't get any KY with my daily colonoscopy. My firm may offer it, but it's probably way over priced. I am gross profitable, not net profitable. At least not yet, and not here. I'm disadvantaged from a negotiation standpoint because of this and also because of my short-lived...

    Miners ETFs i.e.: $NUGT

Seems too sporadic to me. Sometimes one leads the other, sometimes both march to the beat of their own drums. I've seem them go into the close with disparity.

    Miners ETFs i.e.: $NUGT

Sometimes a gift... most times a curse. Very difficult for any arb plays with the ETF and the futures contract.

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

OP here.. Wow this thread appears to have went south pretty quick lol. I haven't reviewed since my last post (been very busy). I will catch-up and provide feedback accordingly. Ty.

    Miners ETFs i.e.: $NUGT

Maybe I can answer my own question... NUGT is a 3x bullish ETF. Therefore I would expect /GC moves to the upside to have greater weight in NUGT then /GC moves to the downside. Kind of the same reasons why if I wanted to short oil, I would short USO or UCO, not UWTI... It still doesnt explain...

    Miners ETFs i.e.: $NUGT

I day trade commodity ETFs, specifically oil (uso, uco), and gold (NUGT). What's the story with these miners' ETFs? The oil ETFs are exact replicas of the front month /CL contract. The miners ETF may or may not jibe with the front month /GC contract. Sometimes the miners lead the futures...

    Prop commission negotiation

I've seen this thread before. My apologies for being redundant, but what do you guys consider the "going rate" for commissions and data fees? I pay $300/month for Takion DMA. I pay $1.50 per trade. actually that's per fill, which is a whole other fiasco as my orders are getting "chopped" up...

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

I have glanced at this in the past, however further and thorough examination certainly wouldn't hurt. I will review. Thank you.

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

Ok, fair enough. I misread the recommendation. Perfect analogy ;-)

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

Thank you again. I will review the latest SLA/AMT document. I think I'm going to take the week off from trading, maybe place "virtual" trades, where I will journal where I would have entered and why. Let's try that for a week or so while I review the material and try to fill in the areas that...

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

Automation is not an immediate goal as I enjoy real-time trading very much (even losses are enjoyable at times - if that makes any sense). It's like a sport to me. I fly out of bed like a rocket ship to trade. I've never done that before, with any job - even jobs that I was quite passionate...

    Systematic/Mechanical Approach to SLA

Thank you very much for your fast response, and thank you for continuing to share your knowledge thus helping to improve struggling traders like myself. I've read a book recently. It was titled, "Market Rap: The Odyssey of a still-struggling commodity trader". The book was about a manager of a...
