    "Time" Component of Market Analysis

Peaks are more effective when looking at cycles for commodities IMHO.

How do you get proof of managed account performance?

Corso482, Do the following: Pick 1 good and 1 bad month from their published track record and ask for broker statements for these two months. You should be able to reconcile the two and you will get a feel for how trade. All the best.

How do you get proof of managed account performance?

If they are a real fund (as opposed to CTA/managed accounts) they will have an administrator (Citco, Fortis etc). Speak with them.

Christ - no wonder he went broke. Who's got time to trade bonds when you can be fucking around with all your toys - planes, boats, bikes, 4WD's, canoes, cars, pool table. I didn't see a single Bloomberg in the house anywhere. What's with that?

    Understanding COT Data........

The COT data is very valuable for longer term traders ... if you take the time to study and understand it. Each market behaves slightly differently, as do the behaviour of the 3 players reported in the COT data. It is not valid to make sweeping statements like the commercials are always the...

    EUR/USD smell

Looks to me like dollar wants to retest the 88.50-89.00 level. Seasonally Nov is a moderately strong month for the dollar, however Dec is usually very weak - esp weeks 1 and 4 (see table below). Disclosure: I'm long dollars but praying for short signal.

Worldco Llc - Walter Bruan Scott Comes Out Of Hiding..

Nana Trader, You're based in Thailand? Nana in your handle wouldn't be a reference to Nana Plaza by chance? One of my favourite R&R spots in Bangkok - where the notion of "trading" takes on a whole new dimension.

    Bloomberg

risktaker, You couldn't compare Bloomberg to eSignal or DTN. It is an institutional terminal - they provide acess to every scrap of financial data, news etc imaginable in real-time. A single terminal will run you about $1.75K pm. Price goes up to $2K at the end of the year I believe.

    Copper

The bank denied this guy exists and said they don't have a book in copper, but LME traders said they've met the guy and have his business card. The article said his short position was the equiavlent of 3-4 times the total LME inventory. Even if this is half right clearly they can't deliver...

    Bloomberg

StLouis, Bloomberg is a turnkey solution - ie: comes pre-installed/configured on a platform they supply (and maintain), including their cute colour-coded keyboard. The platform is very stable. You can install your own apps on their box if required. I don't believe what you are suggesting...

why do funds perform so poorly?

You boys simply do not understand what it takes to run hedge fund business. Firstly it is excatly that ..... a business. You've got investors, staff, regulators, partners .... You have to manage business risk like you would in any other industry. You've are responsible for alot of other...

    Drawdown Calculation

Fund managers calculate Drawdowns based upon NAV. This circumvents the problems relating to new funds and redemptions. As an aside fund managers generally report drawdons on an end-of-month basis, along with other performance statistics. This figure is generally less than drawdowns calculated...
