Great old threads about Gamma scalping

If what is described in Mav's post is the main point you got, I think you would be for a big surprise. The devil is in the details. For instance, when you scalp you remove from the total gamma's you may have dearly paid for , and if the stock continues its march you lose the gamma you initially...

Israel's Kibbutz Collectives Find New Purpose in Green Ventures

Since their living levels are above those of laundry folders, it means the difference has to come from other sources. Could be that US tax money or western europe tax money is covering at least the difference?

    Options cockblock.

if human flash at him, if robot game it using the head fake. If you trade a forex cross on interbank, you would see those "assholes" a lot.

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

If you knew the probability of stock touching the strike, do you think you can "price" them?

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

Thanks. With regard to European digitals/binaries, is buying them when ATM short total volatility with limited risk and a more than 2 to 1 maximum reward/risk ratio? If correct how do they compare if strike is not ATM particularly when it is OTM (for instance could theta change signs?). If you...

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

Using the European style as you described it, why do you think your statement is true? Note that binaries include both cash-or-nothing binaries and asset-or-nothing binaries (in the latter case one gets paid with stock paper and not with cash paper) . My impression is that you may be thinking...

Weekly Poll: Boys Will Be Girls and Shorts Will Be Longs

Weekly expiration in spy/qqqq/iwm--- it is new since first week of June.

Weekly Poll: Boys Will Be Girls and Shorts Will Be Longs

    1. Post above is to exercise bragging rights since eur/usd went down. 2. Market is up currently, but if it were to fall later today or even next week, they now have eur/usd to explain it. So I would not be surprised with something like, "eurozone concerns resurface, and risk premium...

    Kudos to MMs

There is also the chance that June calls are paper trades, but I agree he would not have forgotten, just like the "guru"who was bullish at the top, and never responded even if he most likely reads the posts. PS: Expiration effect today or just summer?

Yesterday, a taxi driver was telling me...

eur/usd: now at 1.2722. It seems to me to end of latest up leg and possible start of a retreat.

    Time to short Euro again?

I reached the same conclusion when it touched 1.2710 two hours ago. Now that others are reaching the same conclusion, I think I need to reconsider/double check.

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

What is wrong with example I gave earlier in this thread (bet1 and bet2 description). Notice that payoff is such that it is determined at end of time horizon (european). It is not the first time that this question and related clarifications have been made in this thread. What does your...

Weekly Poll: Boys Will Be Girls and Shorts Will Be Longs

They sold last Thursday and Friday at the latest bottom. They bragged about it in last weekend's news. How do their clients manage to stay with them? The clients deserve it, because if I were to show them they would spit on me.

Weekly Poll: Boys Will Be Girls and Shorts Will Be Longs

If EUR/USD goes down, would there be any effect on stock markets? EUR/USD just touched 1.2710. Sellers would start appearing from this level and higher if it manages to go higher in the first place. Half a cent, and the move hould be spent.

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

If you could describe more accurately the options you have in mind, it would be useful to know what mean. Back to binary options where the payoff is determined at expiry only (so that it is better defined). Why do you think that a vanilla is not the same (at beginning and at end) as one long...

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

Asset binary is not capped, and captures the "missing" 0.10 (Stock acquired is worth 100.10). Did you not read the example I gave, and also jcapital's answer to a similar question earlier in this thread?

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

The issue is not about the payoff value, but about when the payoff is determined. In European style, it is at expiration. In American style, it can happen before expiration. Do you agree? If yes, then my question was on the effect on your analysis of the exercise style of the binaries.

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

    1. Which exercise style (american only or both european and american) you have in mind in above analysis? 2. I agree.

    Are Option Sellers "Cheated"?

Could you share which brokers do you use, and also which underlying instruments? Is what trade European or American style? Also, thanks for the soccer link. It was really helpful! Enjoyed the games live!
