    Richest traders trade commodities?

Massive leverage and mongo trends. There are some equity traders in the same group though. Stevie Cohen comes to mind. Its amazing how guys like Paul Jones do it year after year.

    Any firms in Chicago?

Bright is good if you need some training. OK people. I used to work there. Chicago is ground zero for futures prop. LOTS of futures trading firms. Do a search here. There has been 3 or 4 threads on this, at at least one list I saw that listed almost all of them.

What platform are you using with your IB account?

I use Ensign. Cost is $40 per month, but you can do damn near anything with it charting wise. No back testing however. not a system design tool.

    Is the bear over?

CNBC represents the consensus of the typical retail investor pretty damn well. They are almost always wrong as well! My entire point was to never listen to them.

Alternative Fuels May Be Postponed.... Again????

I think we should start out with a combo of solar/wind/NG plants. There is plenty of NG and its relatively clean. Then we phase out the NG plants as we can. Add more nuclear as well. Yucca mountain in NV will hold way more fuel than we will ever use. Eventually it would be cool to get...

    Maybe Obama Can Lose...

I do. I don't especially like the guy, but when it comes time to vote, I believe people will hold their nose and vote for Mac because they are afraid of the alternative. Not just the inexperience part, but all of it combined (past associations, taking both sides of every issue, etc). I...

Alternative Fuels May Be Postponed.... Again????

This is now being done. Concentrated solar power I believe they call it. They use mirrors to super heat water. There are about half a dozen companies building sites now. Also, IBM just announced that they can design mirrors, controlled with their chips of course, to create 10 times the heat...

Can someone supporting McCain please explain something to me.

    Only Congress can authorize spending.

    Is the bear over?

Absolutely! Some of the economists know what we are in for, but you don't hear from them often. It is the JOB of CNBC, etc to either always be bullish, or look for a bottom. Their viewers are the ever long public, so that is what they want to hear. Fucking hilarious to see the RE BROKERS that...

Can someone supporting McCain please explain something to me.

Its gonna be Romney or Pawlenty. probably the latter imo. I am still rooting for Ridge as well, but he is a darkhorse.

    Is the bear over?

I think sideways to down, but not low volatility. i think that is here for awhile. At least I hope it is!

Risk of Great Depression is now 1 in 3: Morgan Stanley

There is actually a good argument for deflation. Homes and available credit vs the dollar and commodities. That's the struggle. Think of it as a war. If the rest of the world slows enough, you will see deflation. Personally, I don't see it happening on a large scale, and it will take awhile...

You know why we are in this mess?

Yep, that about sums it up. BTW, had nothing to do with supply side econ as the guy who started this post states. Its been all about spending and ridiculous interest rate/lending policy.

Can someone supporting McCain please explain something to me.

people should vote for Mac then. I don't think he will last more than one term!

Can someone supporting McCain please explain something to me.

I agree. Both parties spend like there is no tomorrow. Eventually the economy, or at least the dollar, may collapse, and then the US will be FORCED to balance its books. Until then, I don't see much changing. Fire them all, and put a benevolent dictator on the throne. Someone everybody likes...

What does "Price Action" mean to you?

basically just using price movement for analysis. No indicators such as stochastics, etc. Volume and trendlines often used though. Depends on the person. Price behavior is the main thing.

    The Price Action Journal

If I had to recommend just one book to read, I would also say Trading in the Zone. far more important than actual technique.

    Is the bear over?

Totally agree, and we haven't even had the consumer implode yet (likely going to happen). This bear is going to be far deeper than most people believe. Stats of past recessions are irrelevant this time around. Its amazing that most economists don't grasp this (Roubini does, and Zandi to a...

    Maybe Obama Can Lose...

The title of this thread is silly. There was always a chance Obama could lose. He has never been that far ahead when by all measures, he should be WAY ahead. Lots of people just don't trust this guy. The election is going to be a referendum on Obama, and will have little to do with Mac I...
