    I found the Holy Grail

The market has 3 components, not two. Are you sure taking the opposite sides of my trades would give you a 67% win rate? No, it would give you a 33% win rate as well.

    I found the Holy Grail

If I only talked about up or down, that would be 50%. You are missing a component.

db, is making a living at the market really that hard for you??

    I found the Holy Grail

90% is achieveable with unlimited drawndown. I think that is what you are doing, mrmarket. If you used a simple stochastics crossover method with 100k and 1 contract, with no stops, your win rate will be very high. What the effiecency of your strategy?

Interesting. Are you suggesting that there are things in the market that cannot be quantified?

    I found the Holy Grail

No, 2.0 win to loss is enough to generate a positive income. Including slippage and commish.

    I found the Holy Grail

Of course not. The idea that I am putting out is that money management works better than discretion over the long term. If there were a holy grail, I would have been found long ago, and the market would adapt to it. What do you think?

    I found the Holy Grail

Okay, but the fact remains that each trade you make has a probability of 33.3%. You don't know FOR SURE that the market is going to go up or down when you place your trade. You are still trading a set-up of some kind. Not trying to argue, just trying to understand. And you are right about...

    I found the Holy Grail

It is that the markets are random. Random defined as a trade having a probability of success of 33%. That means that any method you use will work, IF YOU USE IT CONSISTENTLY, DAY IN AND DAY OUT. I tested the indicators in the TradeStation platform and turned them into strategies. What I...

Okay, so I just found a post where you already covered this. We "eyeball" the critical values. I can do that. Many Thanks Oddi

Jack, we are truly becoming complete traders, thanks for putting up with the crap to create some Market Wizards( or Jiminy Crickets, as you say) Somehow I missed the criterion for what constitutes DU, VDU and FRV in the equities. Is there a formula? I know in the mini's a good rule of...

Ohhh, okay. So the 20% moves should come from the long side only. Got It. BTW: Why is that?

    Hershey's Equity thread

These stocks qualify with five 20% moves in six months. I did not take into account direction. If the stock moved 20% up or down 5 times in 6 months, I included them. LAVA ENDP TALX AVID PSUN ASKJ DRIV NFLX SINA FDRY It is notable that nearly all of these look like they are about...

I am showing EPS- 80 and RS-70 will get us 145 symbols, but the volume setting must be set to all, and will include some negative values. They are ranked from postive to negative.

You are truly a master teacher. 1. You are correct that I didn't maintain a stop log. 2. You are also correct that IT WILL NEVER, EVER HAPPEN AGAIN:mad: Regards Oddi

    Hershey's Equity thread

This is my chance to vent. I was reading this thread while I was busy missing a 16 point move in the ES. I caught at the start, thanks to your classwork, but I made a mistake somewhere and got shaken out way up at 1005. 3.5 points out of 16. I failed to hold through the first VDU. You have...
