Detect crossover of two price series?

You can plot 2 prices series (IBM, Apple) in the same pane/panel. Is there a way that you can detect the crossover of prices (allowing for the scaling)? Thanks, Brooks P.S. If this isn't possible in TS, is there another platform that will do it?

    Logging, tracking, organizing your testing

Hey Fishing, Thanks for the post and thoughts. I'm also backtesting with Ninja these days. Pretty nice platform. I like the walk forward testing and the way you can quickly slice and dice results by year, month, week in addition to equity graphs. In the past I've developed in...

Do you approach testing with the scientific method?

Often I approach testing by asking a question, informally forming a hypothesis and testing to try to arrive at an answer. I could be better organized and more methodical about doing this and wonder how others operate and if they have any tips about being more effective and productive in...

    Logging, tracking, organizing your testing

Testing and backtesting is very time consuming (at least for me). If you aren't organized and don't keep careful records, you can spend hours and sometimes not have much to show for it. Like Edison with the light bulb, you know X number of more ideas that don't work. In running a test...

Meta Trader, Strategy Builder & Trader

I'm new to learning about Forex. Forex tools like MT, SB & ST seem very similar to products like Tradestation but are free?! Why does this situation exist? Are the Forex brokers underwriting this in order to receive business? Forex seems pretty friendly for the newbie trader. Brooks

How to filter out losing trades

Lng, I didn't mean to offend you. There is enough nastiness on ET and I don't want to be a part of it. I do think that options trading has some unique aspects to it. I wasn't looking to alter the entry process drastically. Before starting this thread, I had already improved the entry...

How to filter out losing trades

Would it make any difference if I call it "refining the setup"? Whether you call it a filter or setup, it's improving the entry or the trade selection. People do it all the time. System traders spent a significant amount of time on this area.

How to filter out losing trades

I really don't think you are very familiar with this. I know at least 4 guys making 6 figures plus per year writing options. This is a very reputable guy and program: http://www.sheridanmentoring.com You're right that there is risk, but there is in all trading. It a matter of managing...

How to filter out losing trades

I'm not sure what you mean. With option income strategies based on writing options (time decay, collecting theta), its common to open the days a set number of days to expiration. It IS different from waiting for a setup on a stock trade.

How to filter out losing trades

I would like to filter out some of the losing trades from an automated system. It’s a little more complicated than a straight stock/futures system because it is trading options on RUT (Russell 2000 index). Here is a snapshot: There are 170 trades evenly divided between longs and shorts...

When is earnings season? Which are key players?

When do the main earnings start and end each quarter? How many days after quarter end do some of the larger companies start reporting? And when are the bulk of them finished reporting? Would it be from the 10th to the 30th of the month following the end of the quarter ...? And who are the...
