Ok. It sounded like you were saying to define your R/R after the fact... But when I enter a trade, I don't know if it's going to go against me a little, a lot, or not at all, or if it's going to turn into a huge 70 tick winner like this one: Part 2 Scalpers: would you have...

Each horizontal line in that chart is 10 ticks. The entry (beginning of second green bar) was 12839 and the exit (beginning of second red bar) is 12859. I guess the thing I'm not understanding is how people are determining their risk-to-reward ratio. Just because one trade had a loss of...

That would cause you to miss out on rallies that pick up quickly where the price never goes below the FastMA.

I need to work on this type of situation: SlowMA = up FastMA = just turned up (see yellow line and candlesticks turning green) So you go long at the close of the first green candle: If you can stomach that initial drop of 19 ticks ($95 per YM contract) (meanwhile the fastMA is...

So then just the arrows in the timeframes you've chosen to work with. If you're only using certain time frames, why do you have arrows for more than just those timeframes on your display (which again is very cool)?

Very cool programming. But wouldn't you have to wait until they were all up or all down (all agreeing directions)?

Rennicks quest...100 bucks to 100 grand

My advice: make sure there's no weird tabs or programs open when you're taking your screenshots. A guy on another forum got ripped into because he posted a screenshot of something, but he had another Firefox tab open to a gay pr0n site or something that someone noticed. Oh man, that was...

Here's something I found interesting. This is the only time I've seen this happen in the last week or so that I've been following this method. See when the fast MA changes to a down slope here (bars change to red and plotted MA changes to purple). Notice how the first few candles are still...

Thanks for posting that new chart. I'm finally back home and can see it on a full size monitor now :D I'm confused how you arrived at your drawdown values for each trade. Can you please explain that? Also, the Max Profit Ranges are nice, but hitting each MPR would require picking the...

sorry for any typos here. i'm posting from my Blackjack on the train. jjrvat - my post wasn't sarcastic. i was posting those charts so i could get correction on where i went wrong. i'm using a live feed, too (OEC). i usually leave SierraChart open troughout the day if i'm gone just to try...

^ Thanks! I see some differences now. In your chart you are taking trades in the direction of the 240WMA regardless of if price is above or below it at the time. At your 7th arrow, why did you go long here? It was preceded by a lower low. I thought a higher low was required to go long...

Ok here's my performance on the YM today. Chart: YMM8 500 constant volume OHLC bars Slow MA = 240WMA colored according to slope Fast MA = 6WMA colored according to slope (there's also a 17HMA colored according to slope, purple = down and yellow = up). Trades placed according to the...

Yes, that is the H/A article I was referring to. Thanks.

    Day-Trading 2.0 for small traders

Really? I'm not sure about H/A candlesticks because they aren't showing you the actual price. H/A is derived through a formula instead of showing actual price data. I used to have a link to an article explaining why you shouldn't use them, but I don't seem to be able to find it now. I'll...

    Day-Trading 2.0 for small traders

I was looking at the volume on a 1min chart and 300 seemed to be a good "middle value" to pick. (except in the mornings when there are 1-2,000 volume per minute) What volume would you recommend for YM? 300 volume seemed to produce obvious "waves." It seemed to produce good waves. It...

Oh. Yeah you're right, if I'm using constant volume charts I don't need to have volume displayed on the screen. However, I like to watch the volume bar "fill up" as it acts as kind of a countdown timer for when the next candle will appear (I'm aware there are also numerical countdown indicators).

    Do you use Pivot Points?

What is significant about PP, S1, S1.5, S2, R1, R2, etc.? I am just learning about them now. So if the price is under the PP, for example, what does that mean as far as your trading decisions go? Is it supposed to reverse when it reaches the PP? etc.
