    Put Options Question

It depends if it it is a put or call option. If it was a call you shorted....you're in good shape. If it was a put...you now have to buy 100 shares at $12 even though the underlying is at 6...or cover your short for a $600 loss

    Put Options Question

If by "cash in", you mean excercise...no. When you short an option, you are not the one who has the "option". If by "cash in", you mean cover a short option position... than yes, and you can do it any time frame you choose (up until expiration). The caveat is the PDT rule.

Real live trading experience: Market Vs Limit orders

It depends on the strategy. If you were establishing queue position and adjusting your limit orders. I have a scalping strategy in the futures market where I will get ripped if I use market orders. It really depends on your profit target, your stops, and the market conditions. Profitable...

Wiped first account after 6 years...

Honestly (and with all due respect), it sounds like you might have a gambling problem, and if that's the case you need to be honest with yourself and stay away from the markets. If your not a gambler...I'd recommend you focus on developing a trading plan, backtesting that plan to establish...

Need pointers for time only based systems

I'm not at all debating seasonal behavior is some contracts/securities... I'm just saying its silly to blindly purchase based purely on "time". Context is everything

Real live trading experience: Market Vs Limit orders

I believe you are mistaken. Almost all of the major CME contracts operate on time-price queue priority, which is FIFO. I've been wrong before though...

Machine Learning is the new C++

I like deep nets, don't get me wrong..just got to be very careful and understand there limitations. Also, I've heard it is incredible easy to get VC right now, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. Rich old dudes are throwing money at buzzwords. I did my masters thesis on an aircraft autopilot...

Machine Learning is the new C++

Deep Learning == rebranding of neural nets..its the new hot buzzword, hence the huge amount of downloads. Its high dimensional curve fitting (not a bad thing, if u recognize weaknesses)

I recommend you stop reading that blog asap... it will cost you a fortune....The dude is straight up rolling the dice, and after 10 rolls he just so happened to be positive.... High-end PC for Trading

Most people do this for redundancy and cost. SSD are more expensive, and there is perception they aren't as reliable. So day to day ops are performed on the ssd for speed...and than the drive is backed up on the mechanical drive

    Lottery Ticket Style Investing/Trading

Options Volatility & Pricing by Natenberg. It depends how you want to trade them. If you are wanting to trade interday on margin, you'll need atleast $25k to meet PDT requirements. Buying/selling naked options is a losing proposition for most I'd guess...the power of options is realized when...

    High-end PC for Trading

I'm not sure if it is or not, but you are multitasking... So the twelve hyperthreads from the 5820k should work better than the 8 with the 6700k. Additionally, the 5820k has nearly twice as much cache...this may or may not result in better performance...depends how the software is written from a...
