I've been continuously backtesting my system on various instruments. What started as a promising system for EURUSD ended up being a more robust system for ES. I'm getting more stable results with less equity curve drawdown on ES than EURUSD. This has been a very good experiment for me testing...

I exactly know what you're talking about. This is an exceptionally high range day. To be able to milk this all the way, you had to endure 40+ ticks pullups. But if you did this on regular days, then you would have given back all of your profits. Best way to get over this is to backtest your...

Gringinho, Good luck with your position. I also feel that this will go down to at least to 1.32.

TradingWise, I don't like Tradestation brokerage. Compared to what IB offers in terms of order types, TS is a century behind. First of all, they don't have OCA orders. Believe it or not, you can't send trailing orders from EL to the TS brokerage. They don't offer an API. By combining TS and...

I usually wait for 7-8 minutes after the number releases anyway. The system is programmed in TS. Also, TS sends out all of the data, IB sends out flash quotes when things get moving.

For now, I need to monitor it closely because I need to enter the orders manually--I use Bracket Trader so OCA order is ready to go anyway, I just need to adjust the trailing stop once in a while. But it only trades during the US session, so I don't have baby sit it all day and night long. After...

I see, you're doing it all fashioned way. Some say that this gives you a better feel for your system. TS language is not hard to learn but it has some weird nuances. Best way to learn it is to look at the canned indicators/systems EL code. I also don't care about the absolute accuracy...

That's why I too decided to go mechanical. I had a good plan on paper but most of the time tried to tinker with it as the day or trade progressed. Now after testing my ideas, I know what they can do. In the future, instead of micro managing a trade, I can manage the systems running on a...

I have about 100 entries for each data set. And I have two datasets. However, the system also performs well on the Yen and is stable on other instruments. It's a very simple system and wins about 40% of the time with 2.3/1 Win/Loss ratio on Euro futures. I think it'll at worst break even. And I...

No fundamentals. My idea is that fundamentals will be reflected in the daily chart trend. And the system trades intraday only in the daily trend direction.

Good luck to you too. Is is an intraday system? Are you automating it?

Just kidding-- I'm gone mechanical. After some intense number crunching and testing for about 10 days, I was able to convert my intraday Euro FX trading ideas into a mechanical system. The results are stable over the Sep and Dec 2004 contracts. I'm getting an expectancy of about 0.30 with 40%...

I tested this for the US session only starting time set at 8:40 am EST to avoid the 8:30 am economic number madness. It also performs well on the Yen with only a few adjustments to the stop and target. I like its behavior during the large trending moves. It keeps on selling into the...

I'm continuing to test my intraday system on Eurusd. Initially, my entries were quite good however the trailing exits left too much on the table. Tradestation quantifies entry and exit efficiencies. I was getting about 60% entry and 25% exit efficiency. I started testing for profit targets...

You need to lose once in a while to keep things in balance. Otherwise, you might start increasing your risk and eventually get a huge damage done. -6 is not too bad at all anyway...

    HyperOrder+Tradestation 8+IB

I'm not using it until they release the next version. For me trailing stops are critical and I can't implement them with the current version. Thanks.

Sorry that was my "fat" finger :) Maybe one day, I'll do size like that! Imagine each tick=$12.5k!

I can't believe the Euro run-up late in the session. I've been long so I'm not complaining. But still I managed to make decent damage earlier during my intermittent insanity episodes.
