Need Intra Day Data and Back Testing System

Are you sure? I can't find the "export chart" thing? Where is it? Thanks, wally_

New to IB and eSignal - need help

Forget it, it's one of the most expensive things on the market. You don't need it. Get SierraChart, $40 for 6 months, it gives you enough indicators and the data is free if you use IB as a data feed. You need a sound strategy and not an overpriced data and charting software.

New to IB and eSignal - need help

Be careful with both. I have used them too and must say that I have lost about $500 because of that. Be careful, they do not always work as they should. Autotrader is faster, but its interface is not that user friendly. For instance, you need to switch from 'buy' to 'sell' by clicking a radio...

Is anyone successfully using MA crosses to trade?

Need Intra Day Data and Back Testing System

Yes, but it has a steep learning curve... I own it, don't use it much, maybe will start using it soon. Does it allow you to download intraday data off the Internet for free as Ensign does? Ensign Internet is only $40 a month, very good for backtesting.

can be conflicting at times and that's when you do not trade even if TICK is suggesting so. Trade only when the conflict gets resolved and when this happens it is usually the best point to enter.

    Corallus Chronicles, ES Journal

Using both TICK and TRIN can only help. How much more conflicting can it get, when both TRIN and TICK and stochastics are indicating the same? It can only help because you restrict yourself to higher probability setups and you limit the number of trades that can go wrong. You can trade based on...

PSAR crosses are fun to play too. Not all are reliable, it takes some experience to figure out which ones are better, but once you have this experience you could use them as a completely independent setup, but perhaps even better in conjunction with other setups you already use. For...

    Corallus Chronicles, ES Journal

You are recognizing patterns well, don't worry about too many indicators, there are really not so many of them (TRIN and TICK, stochastics, perhpas MACD which usually does not add anything new), plus you are trading only 3 setups. Or perhaps as many as 3. On some days 3 setups can be a lot...

"Give your system a KISS" by Mark Seleznov

And for your tests you used 1 min bars, right? That's basically a breakout system, but you will have an additional commission induced drawdown which with 1 min bars might be quite sizable. Did you try other time frames?

    Don Miller Question

I am not an expert yet, but have been studying his video for a while. The method is simple, it can work. I believe the most important part, as in almost any method, is the discipline. Plus, it's good to practice it a bit (his simulator alone is not enough) to see that there are better and worse...

Any guy making money using risk/reward ratio >1?

In most cases, this is not a good ratio because you would need more winners than losers, definitely more on top of that. The R ratio closer to 1.5 seems to be good if your targets are bigger and closer to 2-3 if your targets are smaller. Some methods however have this type of ratio, scalping...

PDT killing you? why not futures?

In other words, it is now a democracy of lawyers and not of citizens. Even if lawyers would probably consider themselves citizens, I think this would be a joke as they really only prey on citizens. The law is tailored by the lawyers for the lawyers because they benefit from it in the first...

VIX and TICK - how to use and for what ?

I will be happy too, I have been talking about some of them anyway in some threads, but to summarize them I need more time and more pictures. I hope that in some time I will have both, so until then stay tuned.

    Acceptable risk reward ratio

This is governed by the formula for expectancy of a trading system. Do a search for 'expectancy' on this board and you will find more than enough stuff to guide you further. But from what you wrote, if by your risk (to) reward ratio you really mean that you risk $1.8 to gain $1, then you...

VIX and TICK - how to use and for what ?

Nice article... there are other ways of using TICK intraday, but I will save them for my own article... BTW, do they pay well for that? wally_

VIX and TICK - how to use and for what ?

I agree, VIX intraday is of little help, but I know some advisories that use it this way, and TRIN is enough. Multi-day or multi-month high and low values of VIX are of main interest to traders. 50+ and 18-lower 20 are considered extremes, they signal major multi-month reversals.

    Trading Futures

Do search on this board for 'futures' and you will know more that you will be able to digest... Plus, your questions are very general. Make them more specific, if you want to get specific answers.
