    Thank you myTrack!

They are still cheaper than many others, although I agree that this SDK fee can piss you off.

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

Yeah, he simply has to treat himself less seriously. I know that's not so easy, but if you cannot look at yourself from some perspective, you will not be able to relax enough to pull the trigger.

    The Stochastic Indicator

I don't mean to brag, but I have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, have been using stochastics successfully for trading in non-standard ways, and still don't get completely what he says, and the way he says it does not encourage me very much to get interested in his method. That's why I was hoping...

    Trailing stop/Initial stop on futures

Candletrader, thanks for your remarks. I now perfectly understand what you meant, I was just being simplistic in a way Harry was, but I do realize that when you deal with heteregenous distributions the opportunity factors are bound to enter into the formula we are talking about. I have one...

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

This could simply be an ego problem, he is afraid to pull the trigger because he knows he will feel lousy when this is met with failure. He may not be as much afraid of losing $2,000 as of simply losing a single trade. A single trade can sometimes be more important than $2,000. Ego is not...

    Trailing stop/Initial stop on futures

That is true, but then you would have to really sum over different contributions/populations in a way that Harry suggests in his example with people of very different heights. My point was about the measure you used for the opportunity factor, it does not have to be per day. I see your point...

    The Stochastic Indicator

If you enter on new lows you should be willing to take the risk of exiting on the last high swing. If you did like that you would make money on both shorts. BTW, you need no stochastics to trade like that, it's simply trading by price action.

    Thank you myTrack!

This applies to Amibroker and SierraChart as well, QT is no exception.

    Trailing stop/Initial stop on futures

Correct if you want to have it per day and not per trade. My formula was per trade, the one proposed by you is per day, that is, it gives the expectancy for an average single day.

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

to do it the first time, but then it should be easier. So how about this: get drunk and do it, then gradually get drunk less and less yet keep pulling the trigger. Yes, it's a crude solution, but perhaps it would work. Of course, you should not get too drunk and shoot 10000 contracts in one...

That's funny, I could understand that he could change his mind about the amount to bet, but about the horse!!? People are strange...

    Trailing stop/Initial stop on futures

A more correct formula has two terms: Expectancy= prob_of_success*magnitude_success-prob_of_failure*magnitude_of_failure, to put it in a general way.

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

I understand, but a little distraction may not be that bad. Perhaps you could pull the trigger easier when you get distracted.

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

Perhaps you need to find a trading partner who would make you execute your trades. Just a thought.

There are scans in QuotesPlus2 that can accomplish about the same. QP2 is about $30 a month.

How to treat the 'cannot pull the trigger' symtome

That may not be as easy as you think. Perfectionism can be a sign of some past psychological problems that you may need to address. Perhaps it's only perfectionism, and the other two things you mentioned are just the result of that. Talk to a shrink, perhaps he/she can help.

    Trailing stop/Initial stop on futures

I'd like to second this particularly that part about tight stops not being optimal. They certainly are not if you want to capture bigger profits. Also, it's good to realize that volatily (the magnitude of daily ranges) plays here some role too. The ES daily ranges for the last 2-3 months have...

    Unusual Volume Drop

so imagine that we are in war with Iraq. The probability of retaliation via a terrorist attack will only get bigger. What will this do to the volume? I am scared to even think about it.
