Your June Performance so far ?

You could be a very skilled trader then. What is your maximum drawdown in last 5 years? I voted ">0%". I don't think what we do is really comparable. I am targeting a few % return per month and maxDD < 5%.

Your June Performance so far ?

Big numbers but absolute % performance by itself isn't that meaningful. It sounds like you might be taking a huge amount of risk.

    Cash proceeds from option writing

Months later, finally got an answer from IB. I had forgotten the ticket was still open. They said that settled cash from option writing is equivalent to regular cash, basically the same answer I got from Wedbush.

Citadel, NYSE, Schwab Fire Salvo at SEC On Trading Overhaul

@zdreg you posted 15 times since your last post in this thread. do you admit your argument was wrong, or if not then would you care to address the points that were raised against it?

Citadel, NYSE, Schwab Fire Salvo at SEC On Trading Overhaul

They are related companies with the same founder and owner. So the irony of Citadel criticizing PFOF is real, not just a coincidence of some unrelated firm with a similar name.

Citadel, NYSE, Schwab Fire Salvo at SEC On Trading Overhaul

I agree with you, but the argument is actually even stronger than that. zdreg is claiming that IB < Schwab. Now I don't know if that is really true but even if it is, he is still wrong to oppose the proposal. Because the reality could be something like: IB (current) < Schwab (current) < IB...

Citadel, NYSE, Schwab Fire Salvo at SEC On Trading Overhaul

Hard to have a conversation if you don't respond to the actual arguments that I'm making. For the third time, the argument is not whether you are getting a better deal today with Schwab or with IB. It's about which market structure leads to lower costs. Do you understand the difference? Both IB...

Citadel, NYSE, Schwab Fire Salvo at SEC On Trading Overhaul

You are entitled to your opinion, but your numbers don't prove what you think they do. I have previously explained this to you and you ignored it. link: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/new-sec-proposals-major-changes-to-wholesale-execution-and-odd-lot-reporting.371701/page-2#post-5735306...

    Premature optimization

Agree with paragraph #1 and #2. Paragraph #3 contradicts #2. You suffered pain for 10 years and then decided to finally fix it. Clearly it did matter that it was too slow.

no. short positions don't generate margin interest charges...

    Cash proceeds from option writing

I don't know what you mean. What about them?

    Cash proceeds from option writing

You misunderstood. Proceeds from short options, not short stock. I should have included that context I guess, but it's the whole topic of this thread. The difference with what you said previously was only regarding interest payments on credits.

    Cash proceeds from option writing

Finally got an answer back from Wedbush, which was that proceeds from shorts are fully equal to real cash. e.g. can earn interest at the same rate as cash, or be used to finance long positions. Interesting that this is different from what @Robert Morse said earlier even though I thought Wedbush...

Giving up on my dream of trading for a living

Reminds me of myself to some extent. I also could not become profitable until I went fully systematic. The difference between us might just be that I realized it much faster because I wasn't lucky. The good luck that you had in the beginning unfortunately created an illusion of competence that...

I'm looking after a reviewer for my trading system

Did not read the thread or the PDF. Looking only at the curve on the first page, the result is suspect. Smooth growth punctuated by sporadic deep drawdowns reeks of option selling. Ctrl+F options confirms and I am out.

Any part-time quants trade with Bright Trading?

Sounds pretty different than when I inquired in ~2014. IIRC it was 99% payout, but high commissions and margin interest. For 80/20 and 6k desk, what kind of fees and interest did they quote you?

Any part-time quants trade with Bright Trading?

No, I ended up just growing my account organically. I was close to signing up with a few of them back in 2014, including some that I later heard went bust. I did go as far as opening an account with Global Prime Trader but never ended up funding it because their software was not up to my...

Any part-time quants trade with Bright Trading?

Give them a call, let us know what you find out. I don't need prop capital anymore but I'm curious if they ever reduced their crazy high fees.

    Cash proceeds from option writing

Have had the ticket open with IB for a week and still no answer. I chatted with a rep and at first they seemed confident that proceeds are added to cash, after digging deeper into examples they weren't really sure how it works. I'm surprised that this is apparently such esoteric knowledge.

    Cash proceeds from option writing

Thanks Bobby, that's a great datapoint. Based on this thread so far it seems that this does indeed vary between brokers. Feeding directly into cash is the best way, so kudos to TD. I have also asked IB and Wedbush about this directly, will post back here when I get their answers.
