    Trader P/L 2005

Since I pointed out that no futures P/L have been posted, I though I might start by posting today's P/L (from futures trading). First row PnL is in EUR, Second row PnL in USD, 3rd row is the total, converted back in base currency (USD). Most US markets didn't have much volatility today

Change the tick increment in ES from 0.25 to 0.1

Forgive me for being blunt (I can't help it once in a while), but do the people who are offering opinions and are asking questions about possible pro/con of 0.1 tick for ES, ACTUALLY DAYTRADE THE "ES" PROFITABLY ??? I really don't think so. I mean, posters like guy2 and Remiraz have gone...

Is it possible to trade on NATURAL DISASTERS?

I would think so too, but apparently reality suggests otherwise. Even among these forums, populated with most people sortof "blessed" to be among the more fortunate ones.

    Bund conundrum?

"Starved for yield", Right. Even some paper from Bank of England used this particular term 1yr+ ago. With nominal interest rates so low, I think that a lot of pension funds will have big trouble to meet their obligations. This is potentially a huge political problem. I think that, one of...

NYMEX still favoring open - outcry

Isn't this criticism a bit harsh? Afterall, Eurex is the #1 exchange in the world (in # contracts traded). They must have been doing something right.

    SR server-based technology

Question about SR "order routing": I am wondering about the the path (a la Internet traceroute) of an order between StrategyRunner server at broker's premises until it reaches e.g. GLOBEX. Does SR server at broker's site have it's OWN, CUSTOM interfaces/gateways to each exchange trading...

    The case for a Q4 blow-off rally

It's off-topic, but may I ask you, why do you think that crude/S&P are too stressful compared with stocks? (I assume, based on your 40% in 4wk, that you hold stocks overnight) It seems that the "Greenspan put" has changed the way market participants perceive risk!

Why is the Futures market supposedly more difficult?

Let me see if I got it right, you do: avg 2pt/day in ES avg 3pt/day in 6E In Euro it's certainly doable, as it averages 90+ points per day. But avg 2pt/day in ES? hmmm :) Nevertheless, feel free to post some daily P/Ls in Trader P/L thread. Which by the way has had virtually no...

    Trader P/L 2005

Off-topic, but since I notice that many people post their screenshots in JPG format, I would like to remind you that PNG/GIF are much better suited (much lower filesize AND better quality/legibility) for charts and app screenshots, than JPG. You can see clearly that JPG causes "blur", e.g in...

Change the tick increment in ES from 0.25 to 0.1

Apparently half the ET traders don't think tick increment is important. Or the exorbitant CME fees for emini trading (vs pit). Or much excitement about the Russel2K product from EurexUS, with much lower costs and margins. Maybe it's a coincidence, but there hasn't been any daily P/L...

    Trader P/L 2005

I wanted to do a poll about the %commissions/grossprofit Looking at my monthly stats for 2005, in my case it never went under 20% (commissions are over 20% of gross profits), usually much more (trading US futures). And usually I trade lightly, 3-5 trades per day. After all those years, US...

    Bund conundrum?

Well, I think I would agree that the market is in a MOMENTARY EQUILIBRIUM (based on those factors you mention) at any given point in time, but is it always "perfect"? "correct"? "efficient"? Not in my opinion. Markets often overshoot both ways. There are huge imbalances in our world, and...

    Bund conundrum?

BHS, thx for PIMCO suggestion, I already visit them regularly. In Sep05 articles they're again looking for wider spreads and selloff in riskier assets. They think that Fed is targeting the bond bubble, in order to keep the housing bubble from growing even larger. The conundrum still exists...

    Bund conundrum?

In his recent "US bond market conundrum" speech, Greenspan also mentioned the Euro bond market, to make the point that yields are un-explainably low everywhere. Is anyone following these issues funnymentally? Any links or other info?

    Crude ready to rally again?

Having documented why IMO oil is a spec bubble, I agree with BHS that seasonality suggests a strong Sept. Still, I think the Katrina situation was the catalyst to form a "blow off" tops in energy markets (oil, NG, HO etc), which IMO should hold for the intermendiate term. Remember that the...

    Smacking the ER2

jessop, nice journal. Good luck in your trading. Writing your singals and pointing them on the chart just for this journal must consume a lot of your time. Unless you were discussing the rationale behind particular signals, I don't think anyone could offer useful feedback (other than "just...

    NOB spread today?

Why? A dovish Fed, as you suggest, and potential "debt liquidation" in the near future (of the junkiest junk used in leveraged carry trades) might even provide a bid under Treasuries overall (less so for the long duration perhaps), wouldn't they? I mean, IMO one might not want to be long...

    Who trades at night?

What hours do you trade DAX? And what timeframes (scalp, intra swing, swing etc)? I also trade at night, only other way round (live in Europe and trade mostly during US RTH, i.e. end around midnight local time)
