    New IB Features

I have plenty of fellow traders paying for it ... and their ticks are no better than iB ticks ... and when esignal drops into lag mode ... far worse. And TS can't get around to supporting the things I trade. So feel free to pay as much as you want for that. IB is good. Better than most...

    New IB Features

It depends how much you charge the customer for support. If the charge is low then your model could validly say either RTFM or pay for support --- pretty common now. PS> cmk I am not an apologist for IB. I currently think that the backfill solution is half-assed when you can't get...

Can scaling/averaging down be a viable trading system?

This is the most interesting discussion I have seen in ET for some time ... maybe I'm not reading the right threads. Great to see some of the thoughtful comments guys. I am a entry/stop trend direction trader most of the time so I understand and appreciate the "you must learn how to be...

Tell us how you rate IB's connection/HK

def, A big part of the problem is caused because a crude way of throttling traffic (and tcp/ip is crude) is to chuck packets away. Now this doesnt cause a "real problem" because tcp/ip end points just retransmit and "do the right thing" by transmitting less packets. The problem in a...

    New IB Features

But there is (was at least) one issue. If you are on the IB US or EUR servers and the server goes down then the you can ring the other country and they can access your account and close trades etc. If you are on HK then they can't do zip ... you just wait until it comes back up. IB please...

    New IB Features

def, I wonder what happened about the discussion on backfill with transaction data. Currently its got volume information but no transaction information so tick charts can't be reconstructed from backfill data. Any news?

Nikkei 225 futures on SIMEX vs. OSE

I normally trade HSI which is a good US nighttime market. I am looking at the SGXNK 225 as a backup and it looks ok so far ... if a little boring compared with HSI. You might also consider JPY (yen) either on CME or at a currency house as it has good moves during this period. Eur can do...

The other half is this comparison using a tool called FREEping. I will run it overnight (60secs between pings) and tomorrow during the trading session. <img src="http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=801093"/>

Tell us how you rate IB's connection/HK

Steve, I'm not seeing problems (once in the last few months) but I do note that when I look at the route there are a lot of packets being dropped at the HK end in the ATT network that your attached to in HK. This seems surprising to me.

    I LOVE the HSI futs!

I almost never lose the connection (once?) but have been watching the network connection from Aus to IB HK using VisualRoute. I have noticed a high packet loss in the queries to the ATT network that IB is connected to in HK. See attached picture for an example. Note that my latency is...

Looking for: Program that can play Chart Data

Yes. I am still consistent thanks but the real CCIness of my style is that I buy/sell rejections of a moving average. I actually only have the cci on my charts to give me a divergence based exit under the right (poor) trending conditions.

Looking for: Program that can play Chart Data

Remiraz, Heres another option. Use Sierrachart for charting. Great programme, very cheap. www.sierrachart.com You can convert your ascii files to mnd files (sierra native compressed ascii) using Ray DeAngelis's excellent free/donation tool: http://www.rdeangelis.com/SC/mnd2txt.html...

    IB TWS Problems

I experienced it twice during the HSI afternoon session yesterday. Hong Kong IB servers. I have never had it before. IB, if it was testing or maintenance can you please do it outside of market hours?

    how low can PCs go?

jr,1 I just bought a unit less OS and Screen for about $375. 500M ram, 80G drive, 2.8 CPU, DVD burner and lousy graphics card. Now thats nothing on the machine i built 2G, 160G, 3.4, DVD, 660GT >>>> but who cares. Its an excellent machine for its purpose and it serves as a good backup...

    IB Hong Kong server

Where are you pinging from joesan? Those are very bad results and the request timeouts suggest loss of packets which would potentially result in ib dropping out altogether. You need to talk to your ISP.

    IB Hong Kong server

I use the same IB HK server (from an Australian location) and have had no problems with connection to IB over the last year except for a local flood which took out the cable headend and one major power failure at the IB node. :( All else has been fine. :) IB has been fine and the ping...
