That winpin is very cute (and low resource usage). I attach so you wont have to go through the registration process thats there to reduce their download load (really?)

The best book in Technical Analysis

I am happy to say that I share the opinion of inandlong and poundtherock. I do feel that you're being overly generous with your good wishes though ptr --- I often just hope that such people will trade their accounts as hard as they possibly can :) Go for it kut2k2!

The best book in Technical Analysis

And I found this with a quick google: Posted by cardwellwife on 13-10-2004 18:16: There sure are a lot of people discussing my RSI work which was copyrighted back in 1992. Much of what has been written by certain authors and analysts is in direct violation of copyright. I just wanted to...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

Yes I have (one) - but his entry and exit rules are the key to how he takes money out of the moving averages having crossed over.

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

You caught me BSAM. I thought that Brett's stuff was interesting and some people might get value from it so I started the thread. Then I ticked the poll option and then couldn't figure out how to get rid of it ... so ... :)

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

I too trade with a set of rules and then context based overrides (the real discretion). Personally I have know a number of people who had a working strategy at one point that failed later -- and they dropped out. I think brett is on the right track. My quick take on how to be discretionary...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

You didnt mention successful - what proportion of the 90% failures would you expect to fall into each camp?

Does anyone else have a problem with IB TWS

v 848 has a memory problem that i noted in another thread (goes to 160MB with 3 devices connected instead of 20-25MB like 843.7). IB are looking at my logs. I find that if I restore and then minimize the tws window it becomes reasonable.

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

"I am not saying that it is impossible for the discretionary, active trader to achieve long-term success. Rather, my case is that, if only a small fraction of traders are highly successful in a single year and if only a fraction of those can sustain that success across market cycles that are...

    Trading Chaos

FWIW here is my code for his ma, the AO and the AC based on emails between bill and the person who asked about it: sg.BaseDataIn[3][pos] is the array of closing prices at each pos(ition) sg.SubGraphDataOut[4][pos] are chart outputs (0-3) and storage (4-7). Language = C...

    IB's tick transmission

IBSoft. Thanks for the action on the memory use issue .. have sent my logs. On this ticks issue: what is the maximum number of symbols that will still result in the maximum number of symbols? I am on the HK server and currently collect 1 or 2 contracts each of: HSI, SGXNK, SGXTW So...

    Lets Talk Fib, Gartley, Butterfly

The great thing about trading is that there are so many ways to make or lose money. I love it that you guys can't make fibs work for you. Its great. Wonderful. Fantastic. LMAO. On a more serious note: thats why edge's keep working - if everyone believed it, it would degrade into nothing.

    The last best-fit parabolic

Tsokakis, I've been asked if I could run up your "better parabolic" for sierrachart but I confess that the code below is double dutch to me -- too many constructs I dont understand. Is there a plain english / c / basic / easylanguage version of it anywhere? Or if you are feeling bored...

    Trading Chaos

    1) I agree with the previous poster and 2) No those values are very wrong ... Bill like most guru uses a bunch of modified indicators. I included the genuine ones in one of my free dlls for SierraChart (kiwiext.dll I think) so if you want to get Sierrachart (about 8 bucks a month i think)...

    Ib Tws Down

I have been. Had an excellent hsi session this morning with everything performing as one would hope. Will be interested to hear IBs opinion on the memory megabloat issue I revealed at http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53285&perpage=6&pagenumber=36 but it didnt stop me...

    Ib Tws Down

843.7 rises to 20MB when the experiment takes place. Restore and minimize drops it back down and then it comes back to about 12MB. HSI is not running at present but I will report if that makes much difference to it. Much better.

    Ib Tws Down
